This is a wonderful site if you are at the plaza in Santa Cruz. However you must remember that you will be approached by vendors who know you are tourist and locals in great poverty. the architecture and the culture are worth the hassle.
Nice cathedral in the center of Santa Cruz . Infront you have the place September 24th. Nice trees, lots of benches , good place to relax from the stress you maybe have had. Lots and lots of people sitting there and have their fun. Around the church you'll see lots of restaurants and bars. Next to , you'll see cafe 24. Good coffee there. Inside the church is nice, not that much gold stuff like all the other churches I have seen. This cathedral is pretty new, maybe 100 years
The artistic icons, saints, & many people praying humbly inside the cathedral + the brick walls & majestic size of this church in the middle of a plaza filled up with palm trees.
I like its clock and its really neat to climb the tower you can see so much of the city from there, the walk up can wear one out but the view makes it all worth it
A pretty place. You are allowed to go in anytime, even though it is in use. Outside there are many local women with young children and baby's begging, so be prepared. Some street entertainment outside, which gave you a feel for the place.
I've lived here for years and I finally paid the couple bs. to climb up and see the view. I definitely was not wowed. The church building itself is beautiful and worth being photographed. It's situated on the main plaza of Santa Cruz, so that means the view is just the surrounding buildings . . . not my cup of tea. The good thing is that it cost almost nothing, so it wasn't necessarily a waste of money. My suggestion is take the pretty pictures on the outside of the building and keep your pocket change. I don't have a photo to share because there was nothing of note to photograph.
Beautiful church and surroundings that are worth visiting. This is an old church showing a lot of local tradition, building materials, etc. It is surrounded by nice places to hang out and rest time, in addition to being in the center of the city, surrounded by many retail stores.
a piece of old in a town bustling with change!!.. beautiful plaza around.. must see in SC.. Walk around, breath in the atmosphere
Very Nice Church, Colonial style and too big. I visited also a museum very near to the Cathedral were I saw "Silla Presidencial" (Presidential Chair), a big scale chair, about two or three meters high
The cathedral is very nice and in the city center situated.. The interior is all well maintained and I just recommend you to jump in for a few minutes if you are around. There is no entrance fee.
It's 2 bolivianos if im not mistake. And you can take very nice pictures from the tower. But, i should warn you: it's a long way until the top! I woke up with my legs hurting.
Beautiful cathedral right in the main plaza of santa cruz. Since you will probably get there anyway it's worth spending a few minuets sit in the plaza and look at it.
The Santa Cruz cathedral is understated from the outside, but once you step inside the wood and the metal work near the altar is wonderfully. In addition, the pinkish color really compliments the wood. You can pay a small price, approximately 10 bs or around a 1 dollar, to climb up the mirador and look out over the city. The pictures dont turn out great because it is enclosed by netting, but it is still a good view and helpful to get oriented to Santa Cruz.
I always love visiting urban places, in other words: city tours are my favourite when I am on a business trip. Santa Cruz was not the exception: The cathedral is just awesome, the statues, the people, the architecture, just fabulous, tnahks Claudia Romero forthe wonderful Sunday with your family, I just loved it!
The cathedral occupies one side of the 24th September Plaza and is constructed of hand made brick. It is not as ornate as some of the Bolivian cathedrals but it is in daily use. The ceiling is a particularly fine construction of wood. It is possible to climb to the top of one of the towers and look over the plaza. Unfortunately only the tops of the trees are visible and those are only seen through the protective mesh used to exclude pigeons.
