From old 17th century Icons, Ilya Repin's masterworks, great mariner painter Ayvazovsky, who was also a Kharkiv resident at time. If you like Ukrainian and Russian paintings, this is the place you don't want to miss. The admission price, even with a full photography permission to the galleries are less than 50 UAH, which is less than $5bucks! Because of that, although the museum houses some of the most important artworks of the era, the interior lighting is not too great, which is the only drawback.

I liked this museum, it had some really cool and beautiful paintings. Some paintings were in a bad shape, but that didn't bother me. The lightings can be rather annoying because sometimes it gets difficult to see the paintings properly.

It was well worth the wait. The ticket price was so cheap and the show was so great. A must see if you are ever in Kharkiv.

The building and many of the artworks are in a poor state of repair, but the art was interesting as a reflection of Ukrainian culture. My favourite piece was the Cossacks dictating a derisory response to a Turkish attempt at negotiation.

I was very surprised by the collection. The museum is located in a beautiful old manor house, and they have some best examples of XIX century art! Impressed, will go again. P.s. the entry is very cheap

I spent a day touring around Kharkov during a trip to Ukraine to visit family. I was not expecting much from the Kharkov Art Museum and was not dissapointed. I was pleasantly surprised by the art on display - none of which was by any artist I had even heard of before. There were some nice scenes of Ukrainian folk life, and portraits of the locals from a couple hundred years ago. There is one local artist of some distinction - Illya Repin. His works were what I was most interested in seeing. However, either that day, or just during the time I was visiting, his gallary was closed. So, you want want to check ahead (if possible) if you are going primarily to see the Repin gallery. Otherwise, set low expectations and you should not be disappointed!

Музей находится в центре города, в двух минутах ходьбы от центральной улицы. Несмотря на то, что сам музей выглядит не особо презентабельно, среди его экспонатов есть настоящие сокровища! К сожалению, многие ценные экземпляры были утеряны во время войны, но сохранилось несколько работ Айвазовского, Сурикова, Репина, Брюллова, Шишкина. Советую посетить этот музей обязательно!!!

В музее собраны работы художников, которые творили в 18-20 веках, и сохранены после оккупации 1941-43 годов. На втором этаже музея представлены Васильковский С.И. (1854-1917), Репин И.Ю. (1844-1930), Шевченко Т.Г. (1814-1861), Тропинин В.А. (1776-1857).Больше всего понравились "Воробышки" (1883) Прянишникова И.М. (1840-1894), "Городской сад на берегу реки" Кустодиева (1878-1927), "Синяя вода. Золотая осень" (1912) Жуковского С.Ю. (1873-1944), "После бури" Айвазовского И.К. (1817-1900).Входной билет стоит всего 10 гривен.

Очень хороший музей с обширной коллекцией. Приятно бродить по залам и рассматривать произведения искусства. Цена за посещение символическая.

Замечательный музей, множество картин и скульптур известных художников и скульпторов, в этом музее нужно ходить без экскурсовода, чтобы иметь достаточно времени на осмотр тех произведений искусства, которые интересны именно вам. Считаю, что хотя бы раз необходимо посетить и привести сюда своих детей.

Картины в музее неплохие, интересные, хотя некоторые картины были в плохом состоянии.А вот атмосфера в музее очень неприятная, она осталась еще с советских времен, когда к людям относились как к солдатам: в каждой комнате сидят бабки и ворчат на посетителей, а то и вообще ругаются, ведут себя очень недоброжелательно. Впрочем, это может показаться плюсом для тех, кому интересно окунуться в атмосферу Советского Союза.

Харьковский художественный музей имеет отличную коллекцию предметов искусства. Хоть раз сходить просто необходимо. :-)
