botanical gardens

This free park is a large recreational park rather than a botanical garden ( a place where plants and trees are normally labelled so that visitors can recognise them). Coming from London with its large but very plain parks, this place I found very interesting. There are walking trails, a spring and pool area where many people were cooling off in the hot summer afternoon, there were table tennis tables, exercise frames, children's swings, a large blow-up 'dragon' or two, tree lined walking paths and little 'forest' areas, it makes Green Park or St James Park in London seem quite dull! And best of all entirely free! On the hot day in August when we walked through it there were hundreds of local families in the park - quite different to London where the parks are mainly full of tourists :)

We decided to visit this park (metro Botanicheskiy Sad/ Botanical Garden) based on other reviews. To our surprise we didn't find this place as traditional Botanical Garden. Most locals (unless they live in this area) does not know about existence of Botanical Garden in Karkov and does not consider this park as a Botanical Garden. I also don't understand why other reviewers mentioned tickets. The entrance is free, and it's mostly a local park where at the summer time people of all ages were spending their evening. What is really highlights this park is a natural cold water spring, where people were filling canisters with drinking water. It also has a small pool in the form of cross right across the Wooden Church on the hill (at the time of out visit it was under renovation). I guess that pool used for church baptisms, but at other time during the summer people just using it to cool off. Hiking trails were looking deserted (and kind of scary), so we didn't dare to hike there. In my opinion, unless you are in the area, it does not worth a special visit. But if you want to experience local (not touristy) life - go for it!

Well worth the visit to see all plants.The ticket price was so cheap and the show was so great. A must see if you are ever in Kharkiv.

A real different experience. We saw locals ''doing their own thing''This park has undergone major renovation and is a very interesting place to see.There is a natural cold water spring , where people swim everyday of the year.The Wooden Church is well worth a walk up the hill to . Remember to cover your head with a scarf.

Nature, the source. Everything is very well-groomed. In good weather there are a lot of people, but you can retire in trails. Bring bottel to take some water with you

If you want to relax yourself and get away from the hassle and bustle of the hard city life this is the perfect place to go.Though finding it was a little difficult once there you feel like you are in a completely different place. it takes you out of the city , right in the middle of the city.Lots of place to walk about , lots of greenery , less crowd , natural springs ,lakes and little streams. its the perfect little hideaway in KharkovThe best part is there were no drunkards or people drinking beer over there and no policemen to disturb foreigners..

Сад старинный,. дореволюционный. В нем ведется большая научная работа. Примыкает к городскому парку им. Шевченко. В саду гулять можно с разрешения администрации.

Очень была поражена и красотой и чистотой и благоустроенностью. Бесплатный туалет такой, что платным должно быть стыдно... Очень вкусное недорогое мороженое возле купели. В жаркий день можно охладиться и покормить уточек. И на травке можно поваляться. Оазис среди каменных джунглей!!!

Что может быть лучше, чем прогуляться всей семьёй по красивым аллейкам ботанического сада? Свежий воздух, красивые пейзажи и море положительных эмоций обеспечено!!!

Очень хорошее место для прогулок и отдыха. Благоустроенное, освещенное, с приятной атмосферой. Считаю это место одной из достопримечательностей которые стоит обязательно посетить.

Очень понравилось количество проводящих время в саду людей. Много детей, кто-то занимается спортом, кто-то просто гуляет. Очень приятная атмосфера!

В этом ботсаду собрано множество цветов, разнообразных деревьев и декоративных растений. Обязательно стоит сходить и получить эстетическое удовольствие за умеренную плату.

хорошо,но мало! красиво,много цветов и зелени,тишина,но мало всего для просмотра,очень быстро все можно обсмотреть.
