villa melnik winery

I have visited the winer when it opened first and was blown by the hospitality, quality of products, and hospitality of the staff. The winery is very clean, and we received a tour of the facility going thru all the processes of wine-making. The cellers were my favourite part. I have ordered few batches of wine and as I always have the habit of looking for a second opionon, I tested them with a lab in Sofia to find they were of outstanding quality. Living in Niagara Region, which is supposed to be the wine country of Canada, I have visited most of the wineries in Niagara Region and will have to say that you cannot find one like Villa Melnik. Strongly recommend their wine and the experience as there is not much else to do in this region.

Real wine with real people doing their best in a hard competition. The place has his kind of magic even in cold january. Grapewines are young and the varieties rarely can be find in a small terroir as their own. Nice univarietal whites, perfect rose blends, astonishing aged reds especially Cabernet sauvignon Applause serie and powerfull Young and Crazy newcoming red blend, imo better than most common Beaujolais nouveaux (in fact nothing to do with the technology). Best value for money, go ahead with your pick-up car, van or whatever's

This winery is as good as I have seen any place in the world. Beautiful constructed with top notch equipment. The high point was the tour of the cellar that was hand dug and used for storage of some interesting looking wines. We were given a very good sample of some wines.

I recommend stopping by and spending a little time here at the winery. They were so informative about the region and its history, the grapes, the process, and the tasting. The views are also quite astounding. We happened to be there when the grapes for Sirah had just been picked and were being processed. Ethan was our tour guide as well as the towner, Rumi, and they were fantastic. I know they will have great success with the time, quality, and attention to detail they give each step of the process in making their beautiful product.

Visited this winery and the experience was superb. First, Vily ( the charming hostess ) speaks perfect english and is very knowledgeable. The owner, Nicola, speaks perfect english too and produces a wide range of quality wines. The visit, includes the tasting of a selection of wines with a little snack prepared with smile by vily again....Well worth it and will return when coming back to sandanski.Chris

If you only see one winery in Melnik, this is the one to visit. The facilities are state of the art and the wine is world class. The winemaker, Rumi, was very knowledgeable and said they get many visitors from all over the world. My tour was both in English and Greek, though I hear they also get many visitors who speak Russian, French (and Bulgarian of course) who they are able to accommodate.We stayed in Hotel Melnik, which is just a short drive away from Villa Melnik, and were able to see most of the city, but if you've only got one day in Melnik, this should be at the top of the list!

From Sandanski we went there by local bus.It took about 40 minutes to be there.It was worth being there.

Brand shiny new winery however an excellent and passionate tour given by the knowledgeable and delightful young woman winemaker. The wines were quality too!
