Plovdiv has managed to piece together an exceptional amphitheatre with back wall and statues. Worth a visit at the low cost of entry. Open till late, even on Sundays.

I enjoyed the walk up the street through the Old Town to reach Nebet Tebe. The view was nice, and slightly reminiscent of Budapest.

I always enjoy going to see this while in Plovdiv. Beautiful view of the city. I like historical things like this. Area is relaxing.

Highly recommend Excellent place for relaxing and Defiantly recommend Ancient theater and the perfect view from Nebet tepe. But need of some cleaning indeed :(

Walked through the Old Town and just kept going up, the views are good of the city; however, the police were dealing with some youngsters that were not respecting the ruins. Not a place to go at night or alone.

You can have a nice walk through the Old Town of Plovdiv to reach the top of one of the three hills it is biult upon. There are the ruins of the oldest settlements but quite unmaintained and unexplained for tourists. The view of the city is amazing and you can have a rest in 'Rahat Tepe' pub nearby.

One of the good view points over the city. The place definitely needs a clean up and some renovation, but the view is worth the steep accent.

Seems to be the spot for youngters to hang out at night going by the rubbish left behind. During the day, a quiet place for budding artists.

It's ok when you're very tired.) The food is quite plain and the choice is limited. Some meat, french fries, shopska salad + ayran, beer and something else. However, we lived not far away so we came there 2 or 3 times.A lot of cat beggars.

Offering some of the best views in town this is the hill not to be missed. You can see all surrounding hills from the top, minaret spires rising splendidly!

You need to use you imagination, bring a guide book or come on an organised tour because there were no interpretive materials at the site at all. You can walk, crawl, climb all over the ruins and take in the amazing views over the city and surrounding area. There were attempts to remove graffiti (Plovdiv is FULL of it!) from the old stones and some scrub was being cleared, but apart from that the site felt quite neglected.

This hill is thecenter of the second oldest European city /12 c.B.C./ and the oldest still living European town. Remains of so called "ciklop walls" are still visible.....

The Nebet Tepe experience is a bit other-worldly. As a lookout point over two thirds of the city it is unbeatable, with a 230-degree panorama from (roughly) SSW to NNE. On a clear day you can see forever. As an alleged tourist destination it is surprisingly understated and undermaintained. Although the place is in far better condition than it was five years ago, it still looks tatty and remains untramelled by health and safety concerns. There are no fences or handrails to prevent idiots throwing themselves off the precipice and no instructions as to what to do in case of fire. That said, there is an old-world atmosphere about the place that makes it worth a visit. You can imagine being surrounded there by Roman centurions, by Spatacus and his Thracian mates, by occupying Nazis or Russians, or by any other of the historical entities that have traipsed through Plovdiv over the centuries.Disneyland it ain't. Ben Nevis it ain't. But if you visit the old town of Plovdiv - and you ought, if you are anywhwere nearby - a short detour up the hill to Nebet Tepe is worth the modest time and effort. There is even an open-air cafe where you can quench your thirst (as long as you don't turn up in winter when it's shut).

This place is a must, if you want to see Plovdiv from above! The way up there goes up through the Old Town, but once you're there, it's really worth it. I only found it a pity that it's not very clear what those ruins served for. But the view is really unforgettable!
