Absolutely charming! At times I felt that I was lost in time. Not only is there amazing Bulgarian history, but also Roman history that the city has chosen to proudly display. I was here for over a week and it still felt too short!
Old town is very scenic and a fun learning experience. Great food and shopping too. I had an amazing time and highly recommend coming here as a day trip.
Graphic beautiful old city of Plovdiv with a lot of art galleries around and except the ancient theatre very close it offers shopping or cofee options in the beautiful main road.Plovdiv is located in the middle of 7 hills (now remain only 6,one demolished to become a mall) which if you climb to the top offer unbelievable city view and have a lot of roman/greek ruins around everywhere. In the heart of the city are located a muslim mausoleum and the ruins of an ancient roman/greek arena-aqueduct where you can also sit for a cofee.Extra tip: if you travel in the first days of march is Martinitska(spring) celebration and there is a graphic street market especially for these days!
Old town from Rom empire, stadium, athmosfeare, art shops, nice small hotels there, mucisions on the streets,
The Old Town of Plovdiv takes you back a couple of centuries ago. It is an extremely beautiful and unique place! It is a must-see!
Ploviv's old town is very well preserved and is definately worths a visit. A tip for the ladies : avoid high heels since the roads are made of huge river stones with big gaps between and walking under these circumstances would be very difficult.
The old part is quite a contrast with the new part, and definetly one of the key parts of a visit to Plovdvid. Full of interesting buildings and also with a great view over the new part of the city, please bear in mind that the streets are cobbled which will make a bit of a challenge to visit it with a baby stroller.
Although the Old Town is not huge, it was lovely to wander around. A small park enhances the atmosphere. The street vendors are also interesting.
Fantastic example of cobbled streets and Viennese architecture. A must when in Plovdiv which Will appeal to those who appreciate history and architecture
This is by far the greatest attraction in Plovdiv. The cultural complex is unique in Bulgaria. There are several other areal complexes such as Panagyurishte and Koprivshtica but this one is well preserved in a city that is 5000 years old!!
a walk through the old town area of Plovdiv is a must, with its cobble stone streets and old buildings, roman ruins and old world feel.
If you want to get a real feel of what Bulgaria used to be 200 years ago, that's the place to go. Cute cobbled streets, lovely house museums, hostels offering authentic atmosphere. Love everythig about it. Then, to enjoy the perfect view over Plovdiv, visit the Ancient theater, especially attractive when lighted in the evening. The perfect place to stroll around in the summer!
Really nice place to visit and see the old part of town, with its buildings and history. A lot of gift shops and great view of the city in one of the hills
Ancient Plovdiv, or the Old Town as the place is known, can take you back in time. Most of the houses are very well preserved or restored. Many of the houses are used as residential even today, but most are turned into museums and galleries. Concerts and performances take place at the Roman Theater. There is some nice coffee shops and restaurants. Also few Orthodox Temples. The Old Town is essential part of modern day Plovdiv and one should make time to go explore it.
