Very lovely old town. The old town is small, so you don't need to rush to any sightseeing place. Just walk around the old town without planning will give you a wonderful morning or afternoon. Very relaxing! Colourful houses and nice people make you happy. And it is not crowded, at least not as crowded as the tourist destination in Italy. And highly recommend to spend at least a night in Rovinj but not only a day trip. There are some restaurants and bar on seaside, you can watch sunset with a glass of wine in the restaurant and bar, or on the rock beside the ocean. The sun down to the sea and make the ocean gold in colour. My friend said the sunset in Rovinj even more beautiful than the one she saw in Santorini.
I like the relaxing atmosphere and the pace of life and that's what you go for you can get a small train which will take you along the coast line.
Lovely old Italian influenced town. Plenty of shops and eating places with excellent food. Good chilled out night life.
Unique landmark, full of history. Great view from the top of the hill where medieval church is. Lot of good restaurants.
The old town is quaint and lovely. Enjoy the Venetian influences, the magnificent views of the ocean and the charming shops and buildings on cobblestone streets.
Walking through the Balkin Arch is just one of the many ways that you can start your whimsical journey up through the cobblestone streets of this fascinating town with its' obvious Italian influence. Each street and alley holds many things to observe, and experience. there are many fascinating shops, many with unusual art and articles for sale. The flavor of the town presents itself through its' stone buildings. The town does not come to a stop just because you arrived, the artisians work, businesses and buildings are being renovated, clothes is being washed, dogs are walked etc. and when you finally arrive at the top you do not remember the climb. Once you get to the top at St. Euphemia you can return to the port along a more seaside route past hotels and restaurants. Once you are back port side you look back and realize there are so many more streets you did not visit. Tomorrow we start the climb again.
A walk in the Old Town of Rovinj is just like walking in a small coastal village in Italy. It's atmospheric, romantic and just amazing! Don't miss the stroll up to the church on the hill with a good view of the area!
What a great place to spend a few hours , either by day or night. Great shopping and restaurants. When we were there, there was a festival and we stayed in the town square and watched live bands performing some great shows. The surrounding marina and small port are very picturesque which also lead to some great little finds for bars and shops and restaurants. Its a must see.
the walk up to the church at the top of Rovinj through all the little side streets then all the watering holes on the way down
Old town is charming with its Venetian style houses and cobblestone streets. It is nice to wander around during the day and also at night. Don't miss the sunset from the port, each day from a different side of the "island".
We were on a small ship coastal cruise in Croatia, and this was our last stop. We had read that the town was like a small Venice without canals. Since Venice was our next stop, we did not find that too interesting. But though the Venetian influences are undeniable, the Old Town is a beautiful hilltop Renaissance community of its own, with an awful lot to see. The twists, turns, and dead ends of the roads (pedestrian only) were mind-boggling, through beautiful old buildings. We were very sorry to leave, as we could have used much more time there.
walking through the old town is a must - fascinating and brightly coloured buildings, and friendly locals.
Roving is small, charming and very walkable. Stone houses on narrow twisting lanes. Harbor filled with fishing boats not yachts. Very Italian-feeling. Spectacular views in every direction! I just visited on a day trip from Opatija and wished I could have stayed in Roving for a few days!
Lots of winding cobbled streets leading up to the stunning church ,fabulous views, gorgeous place, we dined out at many of the local restaurants which were very reasonably priced.
This is such a beautiful place, and we spent many happy hours wandering round the narrow streets, browsing local shops, people watching in the many bars & restaurants in the area (especially on the front). You need to look past the touristy bits to see the lovely old town preserved behind them.I think Rovinj is a simply beautiful city - the only downside being it has typical city traffic and parking issues - but time your visit right and its well worth the tripHighly recommended
