Brilliant street for shopping, restaurants. coffee bars and lots more. Found a quaint little Christmas shop. Spend a few hours spending or window shopping.

Some touristy, some not so touristy. Nothing to get too excited about (but then again I'm not a huge shopping fan).

This is the place to get all the needs and wants for the tourists and locals. They all the sort of brands and products that yu can ever dream or think off. On top of that, there is the main bus terminal at the eastern end. It took me about 25 mins to walk from one end to the other. There are also some hotels and many interesting esting places along this street.

Laugavegur - my favourite shopping street anywhere! Full of quirky and interesting shops, as well as the more tourist oriented ones. You can spend a full day trawling through the area with frequent coffee stops!

The only bad thing I can say about this street is that it can be a little crouded, but not as you are probably used to from other big capital cities in the world. It's a beautifull street where you can find almost everything you are looking for, from groceries to cosmetic products to huge trolls. We bought our souvenirs there. I think we walked down that street at least once a day, and I recommend you do that several times not only if you are looking to buy something but also just to feel the atmosphere and breath in a little piece of Iceland!

We were in the centre of the street, with lots of gift shops etc, restaurants/cafes and bars. 10 minutes walk from Laugavegur and you are at the Hallgrimskirkja concrete Church and 10 minutes the other way and you are at the harbour and the Concert Centre.

Lots of fun shops for clothes, toys, gadgets, art, and even some fun thrift shops. Easy to find your warm sweater at one without paying premium pricing.Do try the licorice candy and gelato - excellent.

Was here every day during my visit. Mainly for the cafes and Bonus supermarket (Ideal for self catering hostels) then my last couple of days for souvenirs etc. I found it very safe to walk around at night too. Would love to come back and check it all out in the Summer.

The main high street in Reykavik. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, shops, souvenirs shops, jewellery shops etc.If buying groceries always go to the Bonus supermarkets you will save yourself a fortune than using the 24/7 shops.Plenty of shops to buy those important souviners to take home.During our five days in Iceland we walked this street many times and always had a browse as we were out and about.

nice selection of shops, restaurants and cafés. considering it's the main shopping street of reykjavik, found it a bit short.

Enjoyed my walk around Laugavegur in central Reykjavik. Lots of shops to browse around, bars and cafés. Just to get a feel for the place, I walked to Laugavegur from the Hilton Nordica late at night on the day I arrived in Iceland. Such an easy city to get around.

Stayed down the street in an apt and found very easy to get around this street. Seems like it the sidewalks might be heated under this street because did not have as much snow on the sidewalks. Grocery stores and shops kinda close early compared to US standards.

We walked up and down Laugavegur every day when we were in Reykjavik (6 days). There are great little coffee shops, restaurants/bars, and cafes on the street (and just off of it as well). There is a mix of shopping as well - more trendy/fashionable items, typical tourist souvenir items, locally-made items, stuff made in India/China, etc. It is a bit expensive. I don't think you can go wrong, though. You can also venture off on the side streets for some interesting food/shopping as well.

If you have to stay on just one street in reykjavik, make it the laugaver st. We found so many places to eat, shop and explore just by walking down this road. Reykjavik is pretty easy to explore and difficult to get lost in if you just stay on laugaver and it's surrounding side streets. We discovered the Sun Voyager, the Hallgrímskirkja and the Harpa just by starting on this road. There are plenty of souvenir shops, cafés, boutique stores and restaurants. It's lit beautifully and felt very safe even late at night. Very clean, too!
