The zoo has spent money on improving animal enclosures and including a larger variety of animals. Not all information on the animals is in English. It also seems the zoo is participating on a European level with breeding programmes etc. It is not a large zoo like Chester, but is worth a visit as it's not expensive. Dependant on the time of year,the refreshment stalls may not be open.

We were there with kids. They liked it very much. The monkey part is very good. But the hippo's place was very small. All in all we liked the place.

I can appreciate the contribution zoo's have for education of people and for rehabilitation and survival of animals. Having said that - this zoo should be closed permanently and all animals should be relocated to other zoos. I can't see how this place stands in any international standards.There aren't that many animals and the poor ones that are still there are kept in tiny cages/compartments and it doesn't seem like they have a lot of stimulation. Do yourself a favour and avoid.

We have visited the zoo on a Thursday afternoon when we have visited Debrecen this October.I have seen the zoo and the the entertainment park advertised prior to our trip to Debrecen so I thought it's definitely something we should do.We got on the number one tram towards the Egyetem, we got off at the Gyorgyfurdo stop and walked past the stadium and the fountain and there it was the zoo.We were a bit disappointed to hear that the entertainment park was shut but decided to still give a go to the zoo. I am so glad we decided so.We got student tickets and we have got a free map to go an explore the zoo.We were lucky to visit on a weekday afternoon because the zoo was very quiet and we got the chance to see most of the animals. Unfortunately the brown bear did not show on the day.We did get the chance to see the tiger, lions, zebras, giraffes, red pandas, lemurs and many more.I was very impressed on how many lovely creatures we got to see in such a small zoo. It was perfect to walk around and spend 1hour and a half walking around all the cages.The layout of the zoo is pretty easy to follow and it ensures that you get to see all animals. The map is easy to follow.This is a definite must as it';s great value for money and you see a lot of little creatures.While you're there walk around the park and check out the stadium too:)

We visited the zoo today and were very pleased with the range of animals as well as the compact layout of the park. Whereas other zoos will keep you walking for miles to catch all the 'main attractions', everything has been thoughtfully laid out in Debrecen Zoo. Some highlights for me included the Red Pandas, various Lemurs, Gibbons and Giraffes. There's also a nice enclosure which you can walk through, which gets you right up close and personal with the flamingos!Really great zoo. Get to it on the tram from the kozpont to the university (Line 1, Egyetem) and get off when you see the big fountain on your right.

The Debrecen Zoo is modest in size but it has a nice collection of exotic animals. The Fun Park next door is old fashioned but a hoot for kids. If you are visiting with kids, these two places will make for a great day.

Its a great place for a date or just go out with friends or kids. The price is not high. You can see a fair amount of animals. Its not too crowdy.

A very big and interesting zoo with many happy animals, with lots of space. The Aquarium was impressive.

usually not too busy. a fair amount to see, but it's no chester zoo. not expensive. unfortunately, the himalayan bears and the tigers were cage crazy. be sure to take some pistachios as the brown capuchins love them and take sunflower seeds for the ostriches.

there are a variety of animals and the conditions they keep them are very good. I really love animals and always it is a pleasure to have some time and see this place. It was really a good experience!

We were able to see most of the animals that we had been reading/hearing about in the zoo. Although the tiger and lions appeared weak, but that may be a way of keeping them in check.

we were there with my 5 nephuw. was great! i think i love it more and I am 30.

Meglepően sok állatfaj van, sokkal kevesebbre készültünk. A csonkolt farkú hímoroszlán kevésbé szép látvány, de összességében jó hely, különösen kisgyerekekkel.

Pár órát kellemesen eltölthetünk! Bár kicsit megújulhatna a környezet de mindentől eltekintve érdemes ellátogatni!

В этот зоопарк нужно идти в теплый солнечный день! Мы были дважды, когда был мороз 7 градусов нечего там смотреть, все по норам греются.
