While I recently went in December, I would recommend going in warmer months. This lakeside village is beautiful. While running into more language barriers than would be expected during the tourist season, we were able to find our way, enjoy some local eating and hot cocoa and take in some fresh air. If you are traveling to Hungary or nearby Balkan countries, then you may consider stopping here for an overnight or a half day enjoying some peace and hospitality.
We have visited the Water Tower of Siofok several times as my children like it especially evenings. There is the entertainment of touch pad TV-s on the top of tower with games to play. Simply you can spend there half of one hour even when the weather is not nice & also there is nice view of the Lake Balaton
It is really an amazing place turning slowly as you are sitting there. You can enjoy a good drink and take photos as there is a fantastic view up there! And they also have free wifi.Do not miss it, children also enjoy it!
Located near a nice mall at the main square (fo ter in hungerian). Around are many restaurants. You can get up the tower with an elevator and see the view. Cost 400 HUF.
it is a revolving tower with coffee shop, restaurant and view. we found it worthwhile to stay there for 20 minutes and enjoyed the views.
It offers a nice view over the Lake Balaton for a nice price. You can have coffee their, spend some nice time. It is safe, new, staff a bit tired. Toilettes not enough for too many guests.
Costs to go up the lift to the viewing area / cafe, about 350forint each whish at the time was equivalent to approx. $1.75AUD each.first floor able to view the surrounding areas. This is where you order your drink. We were then escorted to the top floor where tables and chairs were provided. This floor is revolving so you get a 360 degree view. Unfortunately the windows are quite low to the ground. Good for kids! When we were out that night we did notice how the tower was lit up. It was preety particularly the vety top of the tower.
The view is beautiful, but nothing special, worth 1 visit maximum. It is not located in the party center, so be prepared for a longer walk.
This place is the only historical sight of Siofok...there is basically nothing historical about it. The view is nothing to die for. Out of town. Siofok is not a place for sightseeing, give this place a miss.
on entrance you can find all touristic informations belongs Siofok. New renovated, but one trip with elevator to the top is a bit expensive
You have to pay to have a view over the city, but there is nothing to see. You better go to the Abbey of Tihany. Then you have a better view over the lake.
Interesting building in the middle of Siofok. Nice area to walk around. Admission to go up to the top.
Lake Balaton is a natural wonder unfortunately Siofok is not the place to enjoy it. The area near the lake resembles a shanty town, made up of bars, which border on sleazy and untraditional restaurants where you will be challenged to find any Hungarian cuisine. Bars, noise and yelling continue well into the morning. There is no charm or character. Access to the lake comes at a price. They call it a beach but it's mostly weed infested grass, filthy toilets and more bars. You can't even see the lake due to the shanty town - their biggest asset is under lock and key. There are small pockets of free lake access but these resemble swampy patches. Hotels are not worth the prices being asked. I'm still confused why anyone would return here, particularly after seeing young families walking their kids past sleazy pole dancers on the maim street (on the street!!). Filthy. I booked two nights and was trying to leave after the first. First hotel was filthy, so much so that i refused to stay there. The one I finally settled on started at London rates, but I was able to agree to more reasonable fee, which was still far greater than you'd expect to pay. Prices in area are crazy. You can do better than this. If you must do Lake Balaton (think hard), I suggest you consider camping. You'll sleep better. Travel to/from Siofok on the train is not pleasant. My journey was on a hot day, having bought first class, assigned seat, there was no practical display of where my seat was. I was glad to be on the train out of there (alas 50 minutes late) in cattle class, no air conditioning and no airflow. It was only in Budapest that I noticed a tiny sticker on one carriage. As per most of Hungary, don't expect railway staff to be helpful or willing to show you your seat, especially if you paid a premium. They know, they just don't care. Four weeks in EU and I must say that 2 days in Siofok was "the" low point. You can do better. Don't do it is my advice.
Was lovely, but not particularly interesting :/ windows could have done with a clean so you could get some decent pictures...
It's a water tower. Nothing special, nice views, but come on, the whole of lake Balaton is flat, so not really something you wouldn't get to see otherwise. If you drive by fine, ahve a look, but not worth going out of your way for it.
