Definitely give it a try, one of the best places I've ever been. Having a wooden house in here is one of the my dreams as well. Cant wait to go back again

Great hiking, little shops, there's also a sauna here. It's worth going to! Be sure to come here if you're in this area.

Well worth a trip to stay a night.Very small town, but friendly.Don't be put off by the Saudi's that come there during the day to have a picnic on the wonderful green hill side. A bit of a shock to us seeing all the Saudi women dressed in full black burka's.Eventually I got speaking to them which really helped me understand them more & broke down barriers for me.Highly recommend a overnight visit here.

I was wondering if Ayder is this beautiful what about Heaven. Falls, rivers, rain, trees and delicious food are all in Ayder

We traveled from Trabzon to Ayder in a nice day and a nice weather. Actually it was partially cloudy and some times get shower and this what we call good weather. As we move up toward Ayder it get colder. We reached the little village at 6 pm and stopped to take some fresh fruits and drinks. Then we continued toward the mountain and the source of the river and explore the area. We really enjoy the mountain, the nature, the fresh air, the rain, the live of the original nice people Then we returned to the village and took a fresh food in one of the best restaurants with waterfall view.

Small village, basic life, organic, every thing is fresh, nature, green, view, falls, great & cheap food, conservative, & very enjoyable for whom love picnic

We travelled a long way to reach Ayder and in the end were in an overcrowded small town. Yes, the mountain scenery was pleasant but we have spent time in the Alps so it wasn't special. At lunchtime we waited an hour after ordering our lunch in a big restaurant and then walked out, not even having been served a drink. Perhaps going out hiking would be good but having half a day in the town was a poor experience. Our hotel was overbooked so two of our party of four were sent elsewhere. Take care not to be just two people in a hotel that looks after big tour parties. (Separate hotel review will say where not to stay.)We spend half the year in Turkey and love the country but won't be returning to Ayder. OK if you want mountain scenery, crowds, tourist shops, indifferent hotels, poor food and rain! Perhaps a visit out of season would be better.

"I'm in Middle Earth!" was my thought as the minibus whipped around another hillside studded with gigantic trees and climbed toward the snowy mountain peaks in the distance. The rivers in Ayder Yaylası ("Overnight Field") have been rumored to have special healing properties for centuries. The Ottomans started using this place as a retreat back in the 1300s, which means it's been a spa and nature preserve for around 700 years.I've hiked a lot of park trails, but this may be the most beautiful place I've ever seen in person. On sunny days, when you can see all the way up to the peaks of the mountains, and the birds are chirping over the sounds of the waterfalls, it feels like a dream you never want to wake up from.ProTip: BOOK EARLY. You chances of just rolling into Ayder and finding a room are almost nil, especially during tourist season.

The drive to Ayder Yaylası is full of beautiful views, amazingly green mountains, small houses in seemingly impossible to reach places, farmers growing tea, and waterfalls everywhere. In particular there is a 3km walk to an amazing waterfall after Hamlisemsin and before Ayder that is not to be missed. Do not try to drive up that road unless you have a 4wd! Ayder yaylası itself is more just the place to stay at night rather than the attraction. We went in mid May and there certainly wasn't too many tourists at this time in the shoulder season. We stayed in a very cute little cabin right next to the river, further up the mountain rather than right amongst the other hotels, for 100TL. Don't miss the gorgeous Ottoman bridges. For tourists, it's worth noting that you cannot find any restaurant in Ayder Yaylası that serves alcohol with your dinner. If you want a drink you will need to buy some beer or raki from the bufe/deli and have a quiet one back at your hotel.

Rize is a beautiful City . Aider is a beautiful place too , but Kackar Mount it was the greatest adventure ever .

Ayder is a beautiful place in the mountains and it has some breathtaking views, but it is not very special. Maybe it dissapointed me because Ayder was the main reason we drove all the way from Trabzon to Rize. Being there and seeing all those buildings and picnicing people just takes away the beautiness of the place. They say that you have to drive further up to the mountains in order to really see the amazing views from Ayder. But at a certain point the asfalt ends and an unpaved ( no asphalt) road starts. If you do not have a good car, I don't recommend to go. The prices for food are a little bit high, so be prepared.

You should just drive through Ayder and climb higher up the dirt road to experience better views away from the crowd, barbecue and other unpleasant fumes in Ayder.

so crowded and nothing like I expected. It was so noisy and there are so many buildings that spoiled the nature.

Waw, this is a wonderful area, like we are not in summer time. Everything is green, houses are very simple & nice to see, water falls everywhere.when I was there it was very crowded because of the (Bayram) celebrations and it seems that it is like this many times
