i have been to tlos many times over the years and the ancient tombs are amazing. it is good to go every year and see what else has been found.

its a great ancient site and i am on the look out for such places.although it isn't organised and laid out like other well maintained places. Most of the graves have been neglected/vandalized and scarce information can be had from the local posted directions. The climb to the apical fortress(much recent) is steep and hard but shortNot much is available on the top. There is recent activity by the local archaeology authorities to lay it out in a more representative manner. The shattered columns and stones are just strewn across the site. The adjacent trinket and curio shacks are great, i could get some lovely pieces done on black shale made in front of me while i sipped fresh pressed orange juice looking at the Tlos site.

We drove through Tlos on the way back for the Jeep Safari excursion. Having seen lots of ruins over the two weeks we were shocked by the size and stature of some of the buildings. If we ever return to the same area we'll definitely be having a closer look.

Very interesting tombs with superb views from the top of the mountains and valleys around the area. Some of the paths are very uneven with loose stones which my wife found very difficult to walk on and gave up. Some of the paths to the top are very narrow with large drops and no safety rails so children should be kept away from some parts. Good shoes like trainers are essential!

Again, if in the vicinity well worth going. Get a hire car and you can do Saklikent, Tlos and Yakapark in the same day (plus a few other stops on the way there and back). Tlos is a spectacle that with imagination you can just imagine the special city it must have been.

5TL entry. 2000 + years of history which is all very evident from Lycian rock tombs to the modern castle remains. There are lots of boards dotted around with information about the different parts of the ruins, so a tour guide isn't a necessity. The area contains an amphitheatre as well as what remains of a swimming pool and hospital. Definitely worth a stop and is only 45 km from Fethiye.

the buffet was included which we had while visiting a trout farm. The food was awful. On this trip we were taken to see how carpets are handmade, this was interesting but could not understand why it was included in the trip. Very boring for young children.

Planning on going back because our tour only stopped here for 45 minutes - it's truly amazing and so intact

An interesting place to visit, but disappointing to see that visitors could ramble all over the ruins - surely they should be better protected.

This trip take you to the Ancient City of Tlos, it was the capital of the Lycian empire. It was colonised by the romans after the height of their powers & they built a fair sized amphitheatre along side the existing city. A long walk up the hill takes you to the citadel & the Lycian tombs carved into the hill. you'll need some sensible foot ware if you want to do major exploring.
