I liked it a lot especially old vintage items and Mr. Vehbi KOC's life journey. I will remeber his first shop for many years. Thanks to all contributed..
It is an interesting very small museum which has many interesting items on exhibit but it is very poorly curated.
If you are in Ankara and around the castle area you may give an hour stop here. Museum is not that interesting with its belongings but the building is nice. There is a good restaurant inside. Portions are small but prices are not. Next to it, there is beautiful hotel. Hotel is much cheaper compared to the restaurant. And the rooms are magnificent.
A beautiful museum with good collection located right next to Divan Cukurhan hotel. They have a restaurant in the museum and everything they serve is delicious.
It is a special place, there is a museum and a very nice, elite restaurant. Near by the Castle. Anything they serve there is tasty,
I was thrilled by this museum in the old city (practically next door to the equally amazing Museum of Anatolian Civilisations). I love architecture and industrial design, so the building was a major attraction not to mention the countless artifacts within (planes, trains, automobiles, bicycles, boats, clocks, computers, etc.). There are items from the founder's personal life as well as from Attatürk, and the rest have to do with industrial history as a whole. Most of the exhibits are in small rooms on the upper floor, some of which have VERY low doorways. An annoyance is that the lights are motion-activated but will go out after only a few minutes, requiring you to go back to the doorway to re-activate them. The lights in the hallway will also leave you in the dark, but are not as easy to activate. Most items are labeled in English, but a few key items were unlabeled leaving me to speculate about them.I did not try the restaurant, but it looks very nice and the setting is absolutely lovely for dining. The museum is worth at least the 8TL and several hours of your time, and if you are very interested/knowledgeable on some of the categories you may want to spend even more time there.
Don't go just for museum, there's a great retaurant in there which you'll really like the food. Go and enjoy both history and food.
The museum is interesting, because it includes collections of personal items of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of Modern Turkish Democracy. The ticket price is very cheap. The Brasserie is outstanding.
The museum itself is average. But the Cengelhan Brasserie in the middle of the museum is a unique experience. The Çengelhan Brasserie operated by Divan is the ideal place to relax after visiting the Museum, a chance to savour the famous Divan cuisine whilst 'drinking in' the historic atmosphere. If you are visiting Ankara Castle this is the place to relax and have a drink, lunch or dinner.
We didn't know what to expect from this museum, but it was a rainy day so we went for this indoor option. (Although there are a few cool exhibits if trains outside too.)Inside, you can see everything from an extensive car collection to a room with fun science experiments for kids. There is even a room full of Ataturk memorabilia, complete with pajamas! It was fun for us adults and our 10-year-old.
This is a very nice restoration of a historic building. If you enjoy old buildings and want to have a sense of how Ankara was decades ago both this building and the area it is in old Ankara is worth a visit. The staff were great and the restaurant inside looked good - but we did not eat there. The restoration is done exceptionally well and the use of many small rooms to show different artefacts collected over the years from several decades is a nice idea. I was very excited when I entered the first room with the miniature trains but the lack of detailed info about their history was disappointing. This continued in several other rooms. It would have helped a lot if they put some details of individual pieces. The collection is vast, and you want to have a bit more info about the items exhibited. But overall it provides a nostalgic tour of past decades and worth a visit.
Technology museum. Strong collection of engines. Other miscellaneous collections of medical gear, etc.
The museum may be interesting, BUT the food is great. This is fine dining at it's best. Tablecloths, silverware , crystal and REALLY great food. We went for the closing dinner of our tour, and everyone was NOT disappointed. We started with appetizers-stuffed pepper, string bean salad, eggplant; that was followed by salad; then a cheese in phyllo dough pastry; followed by veal cubes in eggplant Remember this is Turkey, so eggplant comes with everything, and in all forms. You really couldn't tell this was eggplant, creamy & with some cheese or yogurt in it. It was delicious. With good wines [red & white] some great bread and terrific service-this was a superior experience. If you enjoy fine dining, you should try this. The museum is interesting also.
I was shocked by this museum. It is quite cheap and it is sooo beautiful. I am really happy that I've selected this point of interest. It is really worth it. One of the best attraction I've ever seen. Also the environmental area is full of small shops, coffee shops, all craftsmen are there. 10/10. Definately MUST see
The collection of this museum is worth to see and also museum building itself reflects the old Ankara athmosphere.
