This beautiful orthodox temple is undoubtedly the top attractions of the city, I have been lucky to stay at the hotel a few hundreds meters from it, I was able to enjoy a breathtaking view from the window of my room, the night view is fantastic, it is illuminated and makes the atmosphere magical and photos too. I visited the inside the next morning, entrance free of charge, in its interior still under renovation an immense space, a temple partially empty, there was not much to see, absolutely the outside is a bewitching beauty. A 30-minute visit is enough to appreciate this great architectural work of art.
When I visited-2008-the building was under construction. Nonetheless the site is an incredible monument to the powerful influence and connection the Serbian world feels towards their church. It is a working cathedral, and I saw a lot of people praying. I felt a bit uncomfortable, but also it gave me a great sense of reality. It's huge! It also looks very momentous at night. People were wondering around the nearby parks all night. It's a must see for anyone visiting this incredible city!
Beautiful and peaceful place. Would love to have stayed longer.Went back in the evening to see it all light up against the starry sky.
Huge orthodox church. Located in a park, in a quiet, nice part of town, looks very imposing from the outside, but inside are still works in progress. Certainly worth seeing.
surprised when I went inside.... outside thhe church is marble, inside - conctret and some icons. but still local people was going in and keep praying... if yo forget about the material world and think about spiritual.... you will find out that there is no need of paintings, icons etc....the St. Sava tempel is a good example of that
St. Sava is one of the biggest orthodox temples in the world, still not finished bur very impresive.
Is a huge Orthodox temple that is going through a deep reconstruction. But for now, nothing but cement, bricks and scaffolds.
The biggest orthodox catedral but even not as beautiful as a little local one. The construction isnt completed but it seems that it wont be a charming cathedral when it is finished.
It's been said that this is the second largest orthodox church on the Balkan peninsula. The thing is that, indeed, the church is HUGE but then there is nothing but a block of concrete from the outside. From the inside it's also not so different - only concrete and nothing more. It's even not completely finished. Don't waste your time there, especially if you're in Belgrade only for a day or two.
on the outset, I must admit I am not a conaisseur of Orthodox churches but the Sveti Sava is beautiful on the outside. The inside is not finished and Will not be for a considerable amount of time. Still, worth visiting just to get an impression of the sheer scale of what Will someday be spectacular.
This was understood by me as the second largest orthodox church with a well-prserved outlook. A simple, small but very photogenic building to visit if you hapopen to be around. if you like it, don't forget to walk across the open space and buy a replica of it in a fist size at a good price in the shop which is just within 100 yards ahead.
This cathedral is special in the silence of the winter, with the snow outdoor and the candles indoor. You can stay for a good while contemplating all the pictures, the beautifuls icons.Enjoy this place because is unique.
Big disappointment!Beautiful from the outside, but not so beautiful on the inside.I visited St. Sava's in the spring and the interior was cluttered with scaffolding, white canvas coverings, and dozens of workmen. Only things I could hear were the dragging of ladders and the thunder of hammers! When I visited it again in the fall and winter, exactly the same thing! If in return to Belgrade again, I'll give St. Sava's a miss.
Serbia persons are very religious and never accepted Ottoman Emipre religion for 500 years under Ottoman pressure throughout history. Here you can how strong their Belief is and how ther are sincere in their Belief about Orthodox.
