lets start with the fact its free and next to the salt flats where the flamingos hang out! so its worth a look.the structure is beautiful, although there are 100's of cats (wild but friendly)! took so many pictures here with the salt flats as a back drop. and you can go inside and look around.its free and its got some real history, im not going to spoil it so go have a look.

This mosque is along the gorgeous Salt Lake. While researching we told three different stories about the mosque but the common theme was that someone important to the Muslim faith died here and the Mosque is her memorial. You can go inside but we did not as people were praying. A surprise at the site were exposed ancient walls found to the left and under a building.

The ugliest mosque I have ever seen, you only see cats everywhere, waist of time, also nobody is there to tell you about the history

Very nice and peaceful setting, remarcable site in view if religious importance. Inside interesting and rather plane.

I loved the view of Salt lake and this mosque together. It's really beautiful. You can also enter the mosque (of course it has the same rules as every mosque - you must enter without shoes and dressed properly - no naked body, women must cover their hair with scarf). Anyway there is nothing special inside - it looks like typical small mosque but if you have never been in a mosque I think it will be an intereting experience for you.

Is a place with a Tekke-old arabic place for praying. The place is just amazing-almost in a middle of the Salt Lake where is good for take a nice photos.Recommend to go to see this place and walk around as well!

First time I had the chance to see the interior of a mosque. Quite interesting and reported to be the grave of Muhammad's foster mother.

Situated on the bank of a salt lake in Larnaca, the place where the pink flamingos come to spend the winter, this mosque is the fourth praying place for the Muslim, after Mekka, Medina and Jerusalem. That is because here was buried the wet nurse of Prophet Mohammed, Umm Haram, after she died falling of a mule she was riding. Small and peaceful, this mosque is far from the greatness that Mekka, Medina and Al Aksa and Dome of the Rock possess. The building and the surroundings are very well taken care of and the salt lake gives a touch of serenity to the whole complex. You can reach it by bus, cab or walking there.

This is a pleasant looking building from the outside, on the edge of Larnaca Salt Lake, but is not all that impressive overall.Whilst it has significance for Muslims, being the place where Mohammed's wet nurse died, it is by all accounts very disappointing inside (it was closed when we arrived). The building is surrounded by an ugly metal fence and railings and the lake when we arrived was grey and grubby looking - none of which added to us wanting to spend much time there. Interesting as a brief stop on the way to the airport, but not somewhere I would have visited otherwise.

The Hala Sultan Tekke in Larnaca is one of the holiest places in Islam, being the place where the Muhammad's wetnurse died. The natural area that surrounds this attraction is very nice, close to the Salt Lake. The tekke is very nice from the architectural point of view, even if inside there is not well decorated. This is a place to visit and to relax in the beautiful natural area and along with the many cats that are living close. The entrance is free.

Located near Larnaca airport, next to the Salt Lake, Hala Sultan Tekke has the meaning of a church for Turkish-Cypriots. Is a very peacefull place and very well kept by The Republic of Cyprus. Entrance is free but you have to take-off your shoes to go in the Tekke. There is a bath for walking from Tekke to the Salt Lake and has really amazing views. Is so relaxing ! For people who like having picnic in nature, there is also a natural park. The only disadvantage is that there is nothing around for a coffee or a snack, so take something with you or you have to go to Makenzy or Finikoudes.

Set in beautiful surroundings.Covered by a lake.Such a tranquil and peaceful place anybody will love to visit. The path leading up to the mosque is tricky to find but once you find it you will not be disappointed.Come see for yourself :)

The Hala Sultan Tekke, is a nice peaceful location, overlooking the salt lakes. In summer you can walk over, as I write this 9th November the lakes are filling, and the Flamingos are just starting to arrive (normally stay over winter). The Tekke itself opens at around 9am, closes around 5/6pm. Entrance is free, but you will get approached by guides whom after spending a few minutes with you hold there hand out. The council spend no monies looking after the area, some morning finding all shorts of debris in the carpark, inc condoms. It seems its a local night spot. You will normally find between 30/60 cats wondering around, all very friendly, but homeless, it seems that certain people simply just dump there cats here.My wife and I visit and feed the cats twice a week while in Cyprus.Local council do nothing to control/look after these cats at all.Fridays are the busiest days at the Tekke, there is no where to purchase a drink at all, you can spend a relaxing couple of hours around this area.

The mosque is not impressive, but I am not a history/museum traveler. The nearby salt lake could be very nice at sunset. The mosque is very close to Larnaca airport, so if you have an hour or so before your flight you can go there, instead of waiting at the terminal.
