What a great place , other half spouted on about thomas hardy and under waterfalls , should of pushed him under the falls ! Highly recommend ( falls not him !)
We started at the bottom of the waterfall and parked by a trout farm. Walking in took about 30 - 45 minutes, crossing the bridged stream a few times. The path has a few signs on it which can be confusing. Just continue uphill and the waterfall is a five minute walk past the resting hut.
It was a great experience walking in the forest along side the water stream till we arrived to the falls. It was a beautiful walk. It is a must to come see :-)
Should definitely visit ! Its a 4km roundtrip by foot ! Start from psilodhentro restaurant and just walk your way there ! Magestic view !
Great scenery in a nice natural forest.Ice bucket is nothing compared to this! And its clean water too!
Great easy accessible piece of nature.Great for short break on the way or picnic.Pleasant and easy to ave short walk up to the head of the waterfalls.
We enjoyed the trail down to the falls as is was wonderful to get out of the sun and in such a lovely setting. Given we have visited during reported one of the hottest weeks of the year, water wasn't to high therefore took some of the awe off of the falls. Worth a visit nonetheless but maybe worth doing in April maybe?
Caledonia Falls is accessible both by foot and by car (preferably a 4x4) which is great considering the location of this beautiful spot in the heart of the mountains. The trails (up or down) have been well looked after and offer one of the best hiking routes Cyprus has to offer. The best time to visit the falls is in late spring as it's likely to be less crowded compared to summer weekends. Allow time to admire one of Cyprus' most beautiful natural sights.
Walking to Caledonia Falls will take about 1 hour downhill. The views are spectacular and once you reach the Caledonia Falls although very small you will love it. The difficult part is the way back if you are not very fit and not used to walk uphill. We went in summer so it was not pleasant to walk back. Take plenty of cold water with you to drink, you will need it :)
The Caledonia Falls is located in Pano Platres, in a walking path that starts near the Presidential Summer Residence and stops at Psilo Dendo Restaurant. The scenery is beautiful, you can see many types of trees and flowers, but the walking path can be a little bit difficult if you're shoes are not very good. The waterfall itself is very small (we've been visiting it in august, so there is not so much water to fall from the Troodos Mountains), but I think that in spring it is more beautiful.
The way up is the best. The little waterfall at the end is a relaxing spot after a beautiful climb up. We waited for one big group to leave and were all on our own. The climb isnt very tough but you do need to be willing to walk up hill constantly. Also saw little kids going up but i assume little kids that will be carried later on or are just crazy about walking. Not a bad idea to just go up until you meet with the little stream going down which is already pretty and decide to continue as far as you like. Way up is already worth a try.
Beautiful nature path that takes you to a little but beautiful waterfall. The path isabout an hours walk and despite being quite easy to travel make sure you wear comfortable and steady shoes. Also bottle ofwater and a camera of course! At the bottom of the path an local cafe has a tasty menu.
A 1 km walk up through very pretty, leafy mountain area to a lovely little waterfall (in comparison to other waterfalls in the world). We are in reasonable health and managed to do this in our flip flops with our two daughters aged 8 and 11. We all thoroughly enjoyed this day trip into the Troodos Mountains and would highly recommend it as a break from the heat at the seaside.
The walk towards the waterfalls is fairly long (an hour would be a rough estimate) but it is through greenery and along flowing water and very enjoyable. Not for people with any difficulty in negotiating rocky and wet terrain. Do get appropriate shoes for uneven ground.Once you are there then the combination of forest, running water and the overall scenery is breathtaking! well worth it. A favourite place to daydream!
Tha wallk up there took almost an hour because there were a lot of quite big rocks and stones and you have to be careful not to fall. Althogh it was a bit difficult and steep (I am 67 years old)I I enjoyed it very much.
