On a wet Wednesday afternoon in normally sunny Cyprus, the Aphrodite Brewery provided a little Yorkshire oasis for the real ale lover. I recommend the tasting paddle with five thirds of ale which enables you to choose a favourite if you want to progress to the full pint. There is also bottled conditioned ale and bottled cider (sterilised) on sale. I recommend the pear and apple cider which was served on ice. I don't usually have ice in my cider, but this was surprisingly good. The lunch menu is good honest pub grub, so don't expect anything too fancy, but what you get is good food cooked on the premises. The bus from Paphos to Polis runs along the top road about half a kilometre from the brewery, but you might find it easier to get a taxi, especially if you don't have a "designated driver". Taxi fares are around the twenty euro mark from Paphos. The brewery also runs a short tour, interesting if you want to see how the ale is made, or indeed how a micro brewery pitched up hundreds of miles from home.
The Aphrodite's Rock Brewery tour and drink are a must for anyone visiting the Paphos area of Cyprus. We holiday in Cyprus three times a year and visit the Brewery each time. There is always a great welcome and even greater Beer.A must do for anyone visiting Cyprus.
After downloading the TripAdvisor app, I read about this microbrewery with excitement and made a point of visiting with my husband and 3 children (13, 11, 9 years). We arrived around 2pm, enough time to order delicious and very reasonably priced food and drinks before completing the short, informative, free tour at 3pm. My husband sampled the 5 ales and then stocked up from the shop before we left. Needless to say I drove us all back! The family who run this are very passionate about what they do and this comes across in the warm hospitality they show during your visit. We wish them every success as they grow in the future. Well done on all you have achieved so far.
we were on our way home from shopping in Paphos, and decided to stop off at the brewery. We had not been inside the new bar before but it was lovely and warm inside. My husband had his usual Yorkshire Rose and we both had a bowl of chips each, which were gorgeous. Hoping to be able to pop in again next week.
Called in last week, a brew day so unable to go round the brewery, not a problem.Great little brewery run by nice Yorkshire folk.Tried 5 of the brews and found we liked every one, which was a great surprise considering that not many breweries in England have that effect on us. The West Coast IPA was a particularly good beer and reminded us of Thornbridge Jaipur.Shame we couldn't spend more time there.Congratulations and keep up the great work.
This is one of two microbreweries in Cyprus. The Aphrodite's Rock Brewery is located about 6km north of Paphos on a hill. Catch the regional bus from Paphos heading towards Polis and disembark at Tsada. Turn right and walk the hillside house until the brewery is reached. It is owned by an enthusiastic and friendly family of expats and there is a visitors' bar with outside seating. Four ales were on ask during my visit plus bottled stout. Real cider is also available as is a small food menu. The session ale, Yorkshire Rose, was being brewed during my visit so I was unable to have a full brewery tour. Samples of all five ales can be purchased on a sampling paddle as well as in pints and halves. Bottles of Yorkshire Rose and one other ale are also available in bottles in DT's Bar on Tomb of the Kings Road, Paphos. My visit and ales that I enjoyed was the perfect antidote to the pasteurised gas that I had been drinking previously during my visit to Cyprus. this brewery really is must visit for cask ale drinkers who are either visiting or are resident in Cyprus.
We have visited this family-run brewery several times since they opened and it just gets better and better! We have taken friends and relatives and they have all really enjoyed their visits. As others have said, their secret is not just quality brewed original ales and ciders and a wonderful peaceful location, it's the wonderful welcome you receive each time. It's also heartwarming to hear the story of how they have got to where they are and their exciting plans for the future. This place is unique and a gem....don't miss it when you're in Cyprus, particularly the Paphos region!
We visited whilst on holiday. We had a brilliant afternoon at the brewery. The tour was really interesting and conducted by a very passionate owner; he loved telling us all about the beers, how they struggled to start with, but are now reaping their rewards. The beers are delicious! We tasted each of the beers, chose the ones we preferred and then sat back and had a lovely relaxing afternoon. We will definitely return!
The people running this new British style beer brewery are in love with their project. The beer is beautiful .The guided tour with the explanation of brewing beer is fascinating.
This is one of our favourite places to visit each time we come back to Cyprus. Not only are they consistently good with their ales (and ciders), there is always a very friendly atmosphere and you be sure to end up chatting to both expats and tourists. Would definitely recommend - though be prepared that its so comfortable there that the afternoon soon disappears! :)Will be back again soon...
This is a must visit for real ale and cider lovers alike whilst on holiday on this magical island ! The brewery itself is just delightful and the tour around it was very interesting...The beers that available to drink in or take away plus there are some snacks on sale!!Ales such as West Coast,London Porter,Yorkshire Rose and Marzen (which featured in the 2014 Oktoberfest) are just some that will get your taste buds tingling !!The ciders are the only ones actually brewed on the island and once again are just FAB !Good luck Aphrodite's Rock Brewery you deserve it !!!!Kind regards Rick n Jen
Looked forward to visiting this Little Gem since our friend told us all about it several months ago. We received a warm welcome from Melanie, who was very knowledgable about all aspects of the brewery. Being a cider drinker I opted for a pint of traditional apple & at 6% it certainly packs a punch but tastes mighty fine. The hubby opted for a "paddle sampler" which included his choice of 5 beers, his favourite being The Yorkshire Rose & coming from a Lancashire man that is praise indeed . We came away with several bottles to try at our leisure. Well worth a visit, but don't forget to have a designated driver as these beers / ciders leave you wanting more. Till the next time ..... Cheers
Well worth the visit if you're prepared to seek it out. Is on the road from Paphos to Polis and about half a mile from the nearest bus stop so it advisable to get a few friends together to share a taxi or minibus unless you can get somebody to drive. On the day we visited there were 9 beers and 5 ciders available. If you're not sure which one then by a sample selection of 5 which includes a brewery tour. The beers were all top quality , 3 to 3.30 Euros a pint and half price during the happy hour. Also available in carriers to take home. There is a very good snack menu and the food was basic but good value. 11 of us had a really good day out with the frienly staff and it is well worth the visit. I think good weather is necessary , which is usual in Cyprus as there is a small beer garden on the terrace but I don't think there were indoor facilities. An excellent day out.
We were married in Cyprus during the summer and were fortunate enough to have 30 of our close friends and family join us. Amongst the party were some seasoned ale drinkers and we were delighted when we stumbled across the Aphrodite Rock Brewery who were able to provide is with a selection of bottled beers for our reception dinner and party. Being a fan of blonde ales and American style, well hopped IPA we ordered Midas Gold and the West Coast IPA. We were not disappointed and the beers went down a storm with us and our guests. An absolute pleasure to deal with and an outstanding product. What a relief to find this oasis in an otherwise baron land of beer production!
Took my son and his partner for a visit, wonderful, tried the ciders, and a few beers !! all very good. The outside seating in stunning countryside, we didnt eat but the food looked amazing, andvery reasonably priced,.. It is a Gem that is too good to miss.. The family are so helpful, and make every effort to make your visit a total pleasure, cant recommend it enough
