我们从哈尔施塔特出发去林茨的路上经过特劳恩湖，这湖一看就觉得很深。湖的对面的山都是从湖面耸立如云，特别是特劳恩施泰因山，显现着很峻峭而俊美的岩壁。湖面看到了帆船和风筝冲浪，这里好像很盛行水上运动。湖边的格蒙登镇也很美，希望下次有机会来这块时，住在格蒙登，好好享受特劳恩湖的景色和气氛。

We were coming bu car from the highway area to traunkirchen and we wondered why we could not see the large waterbody (read traunsee) even after such a long drive. But when it appeared....... It was an unforgettable sight! From the hills you enter an open area and you see the mammoth Traunsee rightfronth you you. It travels with you all along then... For many miles..

Traunsee is a small but beautiful lake. There are several places where you can stroll along the banks.

It is a very beautiful lake with amazing mountains around it. As everywhere in this region it is mostly enjoyable on a clear day. Definitely worth visiting.

Just a two minute walk to the pier from the lovely Schwann Seehotel in Gumnden gets you onto a boat with comfortable seats that whisks its passengers across the length of Lake Traunsee. It happened to be a cool and wet August morning for us and the accommodating crew distributed new, thick blankets for all to use. We wrapped ourselves and commenced our journey to several towns which dot the bottom edges of this mountainous terrain surrounding Lake Traunsee. Our itinerary took us to Ebensee at the other end of the lake and the return trip was €19 per person. The ride took the most part of an hour each way. Do not miss a chance to see all the gorgeous towns and castles near the shores of this lake!

This is one of my favourite places in Austria. Mountains and lake create a gorgeous landscape, you fall in love straight away. We decided to choose Gmunden for our special wedding day and I will never regret about that.

Rainy, but the lake is beautiful. At the day of our arrival the weather was great. But the next day it was rainy. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay.

The Traunsee is one of the nicest lakes I have seen. The speed of life is so relaxing around here, it could become my new life style...Try it, I'll bet you will like it. (especially coming from LA as we did!!)

Gmunden is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. It is a paradise for hiking, boating, skiing, relaxing and the local food and beer is fabulous!

This place is amazing.. Just perfect. The breathtaking views, the lake, the mountains.. It can't be described in words. Hope I will return some day.

What a great place to get away from it all. A beautiful lake surrounded by mountains easy to get to. Just a few miles from the Autobahn with cities on the north and south. Many places to stay which are great with views or just an inexpensive Pension. If you love to hike, or just view the scenery it does not get any better. They also have skiing on one of their mountains right there. Too many places for touristing to mention. This lake just a fabulous scenic hideaway.

Hugging the sides of the lake, we went strolling today by Traunsee , in Gmunden , Austria.What a delight. Lovely cafes , restaurants, ice creams along the sides of the lake, and the views are outstanding. Sort of a poor man's Como see.But really try the Gmundenberg Haus, for a trink and something to eat. Great value and the views, fantastic.

It's a good place to spend a summer holiday. Lake is quite warm, and it is possible to swim. In Altmunster there is a free place for sunbathing and swimming. Close to the lake there are several mountains with a lot of hiking paths. Along shore of the lake there is also a Salzkammergut bicycle path, so we can safely try cycling. I spent here 10 days, and it was absolutly too short time to try all possible activities. I will come here in next year too :)

There are several boats that travel around the lake. In the summer, many have live music. Usually Jazz. Some with light meals and a friendly party atmosphere. For the first time visitor this is a must do. Try to pick a day with good weather. Enjoy and relax.
