This has been the second time for us to camp here for couple nights with my son. The staff is great, and the facilities are nice and clean. The main attraction for my 8 year old is the fun park and the beach, which allows for a lot of activities. You can also enjoy the lake, swimming and jumping from the small tower, weather permitting. Thee are lot of activities, live music, etc at the beach, always something going on. You can also order breakfast in the restaurant if you do not want to " rough it" and prepare for yourself. The adjacent summer rodelbahn, Dachstein, Silberklarklamm an all make it a perfect summer outdoor vacation. We will be back definitely.

There is no specific time to go there but make it sure you want to see water, then must go in spring or summer.Stay in any BnB facility with one of the best hospitality available at Nominal cost. Take car rental as taxi is quite expensive, see the extension of nature and sprawling green meeting the heavenly hills and sky with great tranquility and calm. I noticed that there are not much crowd in the area and locals are well off and respectful. Sooner card is quite useful tool for local facilities and roaming around and in fact yours local ID card. Enjoy the place and travel by train to save money.

This is the last stop on the Wanderbus from Filzmoos. There are refreshments & toilets & the cable car goes up to the Rittgenstein panorama walk with views of the Dachstein mountains. The pool etc. may be more attractive in full summer.

I never knew there were beaches of this kind in Austria, not the type that I am use to but even so a nice lake in a peaceful setting. Although no sand it was in a nice spot in the valley of Ramsau, beautiful greenery all around and an ideal spot to camp or just visit for the day. I visited this area whilst out walking in the Summer and in the Winter of 2011 and 2012. If I had discovered this place when my children were younger I would definitely have stayed here. Well away from main roads, although not too far from the many activities that the area offers.

There is a nice small campsite near the lake with lots of attractions (archery, segway, rodeltrack, hiking, swimming, restaurant and bar,…). Around 20€ for a small tent, car, 2 persons and taxes. Easy and close acces to the cablecar to the Dachstein Mountains and nearby hiking trails. Friendly and helpful owner at the campsite. Staying at the campsite gives you free acces to the Ramsau Beach. If you want to see Hallstatt and the surrounding area at the other side of the mountains, visit Hallstatt as a daytrip but don't stay at the overcrowded, dirty and expensive campsite Camp am See at Obertraun/Hallstatt. Hallstatt is only a 1 hour drive away (with lots of parking possibilities since Hallstatt is car-free during summer - expect to pay around 6€ for parking).

Ramsau Beach is an artificial lake at the foot of the Rittisberg in Ramsau am Dachstein. It is right next to the P1 car park for Rittisberg. The entrance is about 1km east of the Dachsteinstrasse on the other side of the road. There is a small entrance fee, waived late in the afternoon. The lake is more than large enough for the fairly high volume of guests. It seems clean. The lake is pretty cold though even in high summer. There are two diving boards for older children. Around the lake is a well manicured field of grass. It is a bit like sitting in a park which just happens to have a swimming lake. On the shore of the lake are stones. They are not sharp so can be walked on but are not especially comfortable. There are two beach volleyball courts and a children's play area as well as a large marquee with indoor games for children. What makes Ramsau Beach special is the location. It is at the foot of the Rittisberg which is a nice mountain but it looks out to the Dachstein and surrounding peaks. It is a really beautiful part of the world. Being a bit altitudinal the sun can be quite imposing. There are plenty of sun shades available but not necesssarily enough for everyone. It all seems clean and pleasant. The large number of patrons seemed very pleasant and friendly.Where Ramsau Beach perhaps scores best of all is as cool dip after a trek up and down the Rittisberg. As a final act on that excellent family-friendly mountain with its excellent walking routes, Ramsau Beach is a lovely place to be.
