We have been on holiday in Hersonisos 2 times, and both times visited Arion Stables many times. My daughter and I have been riding with Zara, on beautiful walks around the area. It has been an amazing experience we will never forget. We have also eaten at Arion stables, and it is highly recommended. Mama Maria makes great food, with Greek specialties and there is always enough food. We each year is met by a kindness out of the ordinary, both Zara and Georgios are amazing people who are really passionate about their work. We look forward to keeping another holiday in Hersonisos, and should definitely visit Arion stables many timesGreetings from Denmark
Beautiful place and best facilities of Arion Stables. You will find a great variety of horses and other animals and enjoy your food or coffee in the restaurant of Arion Sables.
First of all, they make you feel at home. It's a very cute and beautiful place, with a great sort of animals. Our 2.5 years old girl had a great time riding a small pony! They also have a beautiful playground and a interesting tavern.
The owners of Arion Stables were great! They picked us up from our hotel, and dropped us back off at no additional cost. Stables themselves were nice with a few different animals that you can look at and pet. Patio area was a nice place to relax with a drink when we were done horseback riding. There's even a small playground for kids to play at. The ride itself was very nice. Our guide took just my husband and I on a 2 1/2 hour ride through the mountains, beach, and olive groves. It was very beautiful. I highly recommend going towards sunset time. I have no horseback riding experience and our guide was very patient with me. My only complaint was the amount of time we were on the beach. I was looking forward to that most, but we only rode for a few minutes. I would have loved to go a little longer. Other than that, we had a great experience and highly recommend Arion Stables.
We booked online by email with George, who was more than helpful with information on the various trips they offer and we decided to book the 2hour sunset ride
My experience of riding was extremely limited but the staff at Arion were extremely good at explaining what to do. I never felt out of control during the two hour hack down onto the beach, up into the hills and back through olive groves. We even managed to get up to a trot in places. It was at times exciting and utterly peaceful. I had such a great experience that on my return home, I've signed up for riding lessons!
If you want to see Crete in an unconventional way then this trip is a MUST!! We booked online by email with George, the lovely owner, who was more than helpful with information on the various trips they offer and we decided to book the 2hour sunset ride. We were picked up from our hotel by George which was a lovely added bonus. The stables were well kept and the horses well looked after. Zara (his partner and wife) trains the horses and was so helpful showing us what to do and helping us get ready, she definitely knows her stuff and the horses very well. 'Alex the great' our tour guide / cowboy was absolutely fantastic, he was professional but also made us laugh all the way around, he spent the time talking to us about Greek mythology, the surrounding area and even taught us some Greek. He was also a first class photographer taking pictures the whole way around to capture some lovely memories for us.The trek itself took us down to the beach and back up through the mountains which was so beautiful, this was a great way to see traditional Crete not just the tourist parts. When we arrived back we had a drink at the bar, it had the best atmosphere out of all the bars we visited during our stay (and we visited a few). There was a big Greek family and lots of children celebrating a birthday who were all so welcoming, at the stables there is also a small petting zoo and park so the children love this. George gave us some traditional Greek food to try. Overall a fantastic trip, a great way to see the more traditional parts of Greece. Highly recommended! Thanks to all who made it so lovely!
My husband and I are both inexperienced when it comes to horses but we need not have worried. We booked online and had excellent correspondence from the stables. We were collected at the prearranged time and driven to the stables by George. We chose our steeds, recommended by our experience, and after a quick but thorough brief, we were off. Zara, the owner, was out tutor, guide, history and geography teacher. Nothing was too much trouble for her and patience with us was unending. We had a brilliant two hours on the horses. Mine was Isabella and hubbies was Darla. Both so placid, even when the yobs revved their scooters as they rode past. We rode the beach, village and up into the hills. Zara told us about the history of Crete and also the geography of the island. I would highly recommend these stables as the tuition was very personal, two riders, one teacher. Huge thanks to Zara and George for making this magical x
We booked for a two hour horse ride before we went (but I think a bit over the top due to our age and we had never ridden a horse before) I managed to stay on for about an hour and a half but because my hip and knee was killing I walked some of the way and then I was picked up by Zara the Lady who run the stables with her husband, They have a nice place we never had anything to eat only a couple of cakes but we had drinks and went round the place looked at the animals, the dog and the cat was friendly, Jiorges, Mother couldn't speak English but seemed very nice, nice ride over the beach and up in the hills (but I wasn't fit enough to take the pace, if I done it again I would just do the hour horse ride,
Lovely horses, great value, excellent customer service and a lovely venue. Would reccoment to anyone,
Really lovely well kept horses. Had amazing ride on the beach and over the mountain. Very sympathetic guides and great value. Have also eaten there and the food is fab too.
What a wonderful experience!! We spent 2 hours with Vengelis as our guide. Our ride took us through beautiful villages, along the beach (with the horses having a paddle!) and then through olive groves and up into the mountains - what a lovely view!Zara, Georgios, Vengelis and all staff were amazing and we felt so safe. These animals are so lucky and are genuinely cared for. A definite recommendation for anyone to try !!! We were even picked up and dropped off as part of the service.Definitely something to remember :)
Booked a carridge ride for the family followed by a horse ride for my daughters 7th birthday. We all loved it, even my teenage son! We opted for the carridge ride through the small villages which showed us places we had not been to, on recommendation we booked a table for the Crete night in one of the village squares, which was great with live music and amazing dancers. The owners of Arion stables are lovely and friendly and their horses are beautiful and well kept, I would certainly recommend anyone to book a carridge ride and/or a horse ride with them.
My wife and I, and our son, went for the 2 1/2 ride in the evening. We walked through a town, on the beach, and through groves of olive and pomegranate trees. Mostly walked, some trotting. What could be better than this! The horses were beautiful and well cared for. The guides were friendly and helpful. This was one of my favorite experiences in Crete.
nice staff, cute little ranch with several animals including goats, donkeys, rabbits, poneys and horses of course. A small play area and a cafe are also available. You can book a horseback riding tour (pre-booking required) or just take the kids for an afternoon there while enjoying a coffee
