Shallow waters, nice bay. Lovely scenery With cozy reasturants surrounding the beach. Changing facilities.
Pretty sand beach with changing rooms & showers. Lots of restaurants and cafes overlooking the harbor. Not a big place, but definitely scenic. A nice place for a stop and a swim after you've hiked to see the Apollon statue.
The beach was very clean and literally the 'centre' of village life, with tavernas dotted along the roadside right by the beach. Seemed a quiet and interesting place to veg-out for a few days (alas, we only had one night there).
If you want to spend your vacation away from the noise of the city and hang out all day at the beach, Apollo is the place you want.Apollo will find cheap rooms to stay overnight (Adonis hotel, Kouros hotel,Flora's Apartments). Nice restaurants to dine ("Nikos" ,"Kalimera" {dont eat elsewhere}). natural and relaxed café and bar.The natural beauty combined with the history of the place will amaze you. There are 2 beaches (in one) to choose from, pebbles, sand and blue waters. We look forward to go back!
Two beaches in one....the sandy beach is great for suntanning and for kids to play, the rocky one is beautiful and quieter! The Aegean water is clean and just beautiful...I loved swimming from one beach to the other (NOT FOR NOVICE SWIMMERS!!!) and then walking back! My kids loved swimming playing "construction site" with the sand and pebbles!
Situated in the north east of the island of Naxos about an hour + away by car from Naxos Town this is a little gem of a sheltered sandy beach with shallow water ideal for toddlers and young children. There are a few shops and tavernas here as well as some holiday apartments but its not over developed by any stretch of the imagination. Couple of big downsides as to why I marked the resort down; the municipal toilet/changing area is absolutely filthy and detracts from the quaintness of the resort. Secondly there are no sunbeds or shades on the beach and its surprising that none of the tavernas have diversified into this area, it would most certainly add to its attractiveness.
Nice beach but there is a lack of atmosphere and the restaurants are overly good or busy............................
Apollonas Beach is a true gem quietly tucked away in the North part of Naxos Island. The beach is divided naturally into two areas--the first a beautiful sandy beach and the other a pebbled beach. Both are stunningly beautiful, the water is clean, the waves sometimes calm and sometimes rough depending on the wind. The village of Apollonas itself is charming, quaint, with traditional Aegean tavernas serving locally caught fresh fish, spit roasted lamb and goat, traditional Greek cuisine prepared from locally grown delicious organic ingredients. You can relax with an icy cold frappe at one of the local cafes to escape the hot sun, or just work on your tan and cool off in the water! There are two hotels, Hotel Adonis where owner Stamatis’ warmth and hospitality are matched by great service, delicious and lovingly prepared food, coffee or locally produced wine depending on your mood. At the Hotel Kouros/Flex Bar, Chris serves up great drinks with fabulous music until the wee hours of the morning. There are beautiful hiking trails up Kalogeros Mountain (best to do before sunrise because it gets hot quick!) and around the village area, natural springs, and an ancient Kouros statue at the top of the village. Apollonas is a little piece of heaven on Earth. It’s an example of why Naxos Island is one of the most highly rated islands not only in Europe, but on Earth! There is something truly special about this place, which is why I have been back to Naxos and Apollonas many times and plan on returning again this summer. I truly feel like I am at home and in heaven there.
We travelled to Apollon by bus from Apeiranthos – what a stunning journey through mountains. Apollon is not a big village, it has a small harbour & small sandy town beach, there is also a long pebble beach but it was too windy to ever do anything but just walk along as the waves just crashed in! The town beach is gently shelving but take your own brollies & mats (can usually borrow some from Adonis Hotel if staying here), and was quite windy so large pebbles to keep the brollies upright were at a premium! There are 3 or 4 tavernas, two gift shops, a couple of cafes and a small shop with just the basics. La Sabbia cafe is a good spot for an ouzo! Stayed at Adonis Hotel 4 nights (B&B) and can only confirm what others have already said – what a super hotel & what a fantastic host Stamatis is. We ate 3 nights in the hotel – superb dishes prepared by Stamatis’ mother & at Apollon Taverna the other night – meal OK but not very friendly.
great little spot right on the water with great local fish fare restaurants and views to die for. Sit relax and have a glass of house wine. The Fish was so fresh we watched as it was being taken off the boat right to the wood fired grill. Hoerte (local wild greens), Gigante Beans, fresh Mediterranean sea-bass, helaniki salad.........
Sandy beach, looks like a good surfing location in a north wind. Nice waterfront tavernas. Surrounded by very impressive mountains
