kalymnos climbing school

We had a brilliant week's climbing instruction with Lucas. Kalymnos is an incredible place to go climbing and Lucas is a great teacher - he really boosted our confidence and had us rapidly going up through the grades. I can't recommend the Kalymnos Climbing School enough.

I climbed with Lucas for a 5 days leading course and it has been a fantastic experience: thanks to his professionality, patience and precious advices, he helped me to conquer the sharp end of the rope!I definetely confirm all the nice words about Lucas and Alexandra school written in the other comments. Really advised!

Lucas guiding was very helpful to identify suitable crags, put top ropes where needed and satisfy any climber's desire. Good value, uncomplicated, just call and go!

I cant speak highly enough of Lukas and Sandra. They are an incredible couple- so patient and kind and made my experience of climbing on Kalymnos absolutely fantastic. They are 100% focused on the student and on safety and on enjoyability- not on their own ego! (i'm sure they are fantastic at climbing but everything is about the student and tailoring everything to the student and the group's needs). We went to different sectors every day with them carefully choosing places with climbs to suit all the students. Fantastic!I cant wait to go back. i am now a climbing enthusiast thanks to Lukas and Sandra. Bravo! ;)

I climbed 4 days with this climbing school each time in a completely different sector of the island that was always conveniently protected by the shade. The team is extremely flexible and was even happy to pick me up each time from my hotel even though it was quite far away from the town. The experience was great value for money as there were plenty of opportunities to meet climbers with a wide range of abilities

We climbed for one morning with Kalymnos Climbing SchoolWe where at sector Odysse above Masouri. There where 4 instructors / belayers including the couple who owns the school.for our dutch -swiss family (3 climbers aged 10,11,56) and some more guests -We where picked up at our hotel got all the material (helmet, shoes, climbing harnas) well instructed, climbed for some 4 hours (or looked at the others climbing) and brought back.It was great! - can be truly recommended - cost was 40 EUR /hour for the whole family.Important detail - climbing is also very good possible during the hot summer months - you / the school choose a sector and time where climbing in the shade is possible.Rembert Biemond, Sweden

My husband and young girls hadn't climbed on rock before and I have minimal experience, so we booked two taster sessions with this lovely couple in such an incredible setting. Great value for money and their patience with us ( especially my nine year old who kept deciding she couldn't get down) was exceptional. We'd only booked 3 days of insurance so couldn't book more but are already planning our next trip and will definitely climb more then. Felt completely safe and were encouraged to push ourselves just enough...now inspired to have some indoor lessons before our next trip. Very highly recommended and would like to thank loukas, Alex and dimitri very much :-)

Was back again this year and spent several more days climbing with Loukas and Alexandra, had another great time with these warm and friendly people and as always very professional and safe climbing. They happy to climb at level you are comfortable with or to help you push your grade.

I first visited Kalymnos in April and climbed with Lukas for 2 weeks...I had such an amazing experience that I had to come back for 2 more weeks in May! I've learnt more with him than I could've ever imagined. He just has a gift for putting it all together in a way that is best for each person - training, climbing, safety, beta, mental game...I got all the answers I was looking for and much more. I feel extremely grateful to have met such a professional and genuinely positive and kind person...and of course, such a talented climber. I left Kalymnos feeling more inspired and motivated than I ever have before. I cannot recommend highly enough to the novices and the very experienced!

We spent 6 days climbing with Lucas and he is very professional, kind, and talented teacher and trainer. He has an excellent knowledge of all routes on the island and knew exactly which ones would suite us well as beginners and we felt 100% safe climbing with him and were challenged in a positive way so it was fun and very educational. I feel very lucky to have met him and I am grateful for his kind attention and focus and for inspiring me to train harder. Thank you Lucas (and your lovely wife Alexandra) for making our climbing in Kalymnos memorable!

We climbed 6 days in May 2014 with Lukas and Alex. After taking an expensive course in Switzerland last year and having an accident, I was very afraid to go back to climb. But with Lukas and Alex it was just magic. I felt that 2 angels were taking care of us and compared to the courses we made before, this was just above all expectations. The level of professionalism, the focus on safety, the patience Lukas had particularly with me as I was afraid made me recover the confidence and find the passion for this amazing sport. I can not imagine that there can be anyone better to teach this, with such care, so much patience, so much love for climbing. I did not only lost the fear, I understood that it is about having fun. Kalymnos is certainly a paradise and Lukas and Alex are two angels!

My partner and I visited Kalymnos in May 2014 and spent three days with Lucas. We had both climbed before (mainly trad) and Lucas was able to help us feel really comfortable climbing with a 'sport ethos'. This is exactly what we needed as it helped us move away from a 'never fall' mindset to one where we could focus more on the climbing and pushing our climbing ability. If I was summarise Lucas's approach I would say it is about developing safe technique so that climbing becomes fun. He was also cater for different abilities well, knowing how to identify the next step. Excellent!

We visited earlier this month and had 3 x half day sessions with Lucas. As a relatively new climber I saw my confidence and skills progress with each session. Lucas adapted each session to meet our learning style,skill level and preferences. I climbed for three days with Lucas and Alexandra in April 2014. They were careful, professional, and kind. Lucas is an extremely accomplished climber with very detailed knowledge of Kalymnos, and is able to teach all levels of climbers (I am an intermediate-level climber), either singly or in groups.
