Somewhat off the beaten track this is a lovely bay with a pebble beach that attracts day trippers and sailing boats that come into the bay for a lunch stop or swimming. There are a few tavernas and bars in the beach area and two more tavernas in the small port area. There is also a mini-market selling everyday essentials (although cutting down opening times now prior to winter closure).Overall this is a really relaxing place to be in a lovely setting. If you have a few euros to spare you might even pay the small 4 star, San Nicholas hotel a visit!
We visited this beach in mid-September. It isn’t sandy, but the water is crystal clear. You have the opportunity to park your car and it has several taverns. We found it nice.
The beach has clean and clear water, with no sand, just stones. Nothing out of ordinary; it has sunbeds, umbrellas and tavernas. The entrance in the water is not very steep, but i suggest you use special shoes for stones. Its only advantage is that is somehow secluded and quiet.
We stayed in Nydri but came to vizit this amazing beach with crystal clean water. It was great experience...
In the south east of Lefkas, Poros is a white pebble beach in a quieter part of the island. (Rooda Bay). Maybe not good for people/children who don't swim well as there is quite a drop off a few feet into the water. A few cafes and tavernas across the road from the beach. Pretty area.
Stayed in a villa in Mikros Gialos. Good range of bars and restaurants. Rouda Hotel even has tables under the trees on the beach. Quite busy when we were there but always parking - somewhere! Pebbly beach which seems to slope quite steeply. Chairs and parasols for hire. Supermarket plus shop in the hotel. Also good moorings on the port side for smaller boats. Hotel and beach bar at the far end of the port area which we did not investigate.Honey man there all day and evening selling local honey. Most restaurants have the local fish as supplied daily. Certainly in season there was a lifeguard on duty all day. Good all round resort I think.
I can see why this bay is popular. Many beaches on the island are either accessed by lots of steps or by boat only. Most have no facilities. Whilst that may be their charm, Mikros has a range of restaurants, bars and even little shops. Whilst the access is down a somewhat torturous road there is (often only just) sufficient parking somewhere. There is a separate port area for sailors and even hotels of varying amenities. It remains a delightful village which gives a friendly welcome. There are for hire sunbeds and umbrellas on a pebbly beach. The water does slope fairly steeply but there is a lifeguard on duty it seems in the holiday months at least. If on Lefkada, don't miss a trip here.
Been there twice in our 7 day stay. Nice and personal away from the fuss of the big and famous beaches
Beautifull little beach very picturesque without the hussle and bustle of the more well known beaches. You will need beach shoes though
Christal clear, still water! It is a small pebble beach, with nice restaurants and umbrellas with sunbeds for rent. If you are late and arrive after 10 a.m. you you might face what we did: no more umbrellas and beds. :( It is a nice place for families with small kids and also for older people, who like to spend a peaceful sunny day on the beach.Beware of wasps!!!
amazing crystal cleat water, always quiet , there are sunbeds and water sports and some good fish tavernas
A beach of extraordinary beauty with only downside being the cost of umbrellas. 6€ for an umbrella is too much I believe. A place that you have to go but don't forget to bring your own umbrella!
This beach was an option as a cruise excursion and was highly recommended on TA, so we grabbed a taxi at the pier and had a fantastic day. Clean, beautiful. We beat the cruise ships by more than 40 minutes and easily claimed an umbrella and 2 lounges for €6 rental. Lounge chair service from the local taverna, Costa Costa and weak, but free wifi. The Taverna played music, including a song from the musical, "Grease"; too cute. Lots of water activities: banana boats, etc. great beach!
Yes, I know, 'Poros Beach', but on the map, this is the correct name - or variations on it. A delightful, albeit busy - but not too crowded - gently shelving beach of round stones. And although I am somewhat a 'tenderfoot' I had no trouble in bare feet despite 'norfolktwo's' cxomment. Take you own umbrella else hire one and 2 sunbeds for 6 euros. As 'norfolktwo' also points out there is a tavern behind the beach which serves good fresh food at a reasonable price. I found the house white at 5 euros a HALF litre (the price list is wrong) very drinkable, especially after a good swim and in the shade of the trees and with the prospect of the sparkling sea ahead.
+The clear water, the quiet beach, the scenery, the local taverns- At midday it gets a bit dirty and unclear, the fish are aggressive
