This is an interesting site spread over a large area with plenty to see. It costs nothing to see the ruins and it is close to the village of olympiada. It is not the place for anyone who has difficulty walking over rough terrain and if you are to explore as much as possible be prepared for a lot of steps. Wear comfortable walking shoes.

staying there, on the top of the old walls, under the bright sun and the blue sky of Greece,I almost see myself as an ancient guard looking for enemy coming on the sea :)

I found Ancient Stagira well-worth a visit. It is on a piece of spectacular coast-line. The setting itself is the most impressive part of the site and makes the relatively few ruins much more evocative than if the were just lying in a field inland. Of course, the fact that it is Aristotle's birth-place gives an extra kudos.The site itself is not very big and it is a bit of hike down to the agora area from the walls near the entrance, but worth it for the able-bodied.The site is not particularly well-sign-posted, even the entrance itself is marked very discreetly. One could drive past without noticing it, if one were not aware of its existence. But easy enough to find if one follows a decent road-map.

The Aristotle park is at wonderful location, made in honor of the great philosopher who was born in Ancient Stagira. What was interesting to us (my wife and me:)? A lot!The unique interactive instruments, nature, nice view at sea and at Athos. There are a parking and restaurant with nice view, too.Did you know that Nicomachus (father of Aristotle) was a native of Stageira, and the friend and physician of Amyntas III, king of Macedonia, 393-369 BC?

Extensive archaeological site in a spectacular location overlooking the sea. There are paths around the site to take you to most important features. The city walls are amazingly well preserved - and you can wander down the remains of a 4th C street past ruined shops to the houses where the ancient Macedonians lived. Well worth a visit!

We had a private taxi tour in Ancient Stagira with my family.We saw a very well maintained site, with remains of stoa and impressive classical walls.

Just spent two weeks wonderful weeks at the small beach resort of Olymbiada,home of the Ancient site of Stagira,birthplace of Aristotle.Admission was free and the site just a stones throw from the lovely tavernas on the beach at Olymbiada. We visited the site several times and found it a haven of peace,away from the busy beach and away from the hustle and bustle of other holidaymakers ( not that the beach was really busy !) There are lots of quiet,shady ,hidden tracks through the woods ,away from the heat of the sun. The archaeological remains are still being excavated and are on display all over the site, which overlooks the sea and rocks.Part of the remains are high above the Viliage ,overlooking the whole area and there are some magnificent views to be had.One track followed the shoreline and we were able to scramble down to a rocky outcrop to sunbath.Remember to wear trainers and just think of those lovely tavernas in the villiage after your walk

Actually was there September 2010,if you have vacation on Sithonia or Atos(Agios Oros) you could visit the Memorial Park of Aristotle(all his innovations are placed there-made by German project-Bravo-Great job).From Ouranopolis its approx. 60km car drive,but dont search for Stagira because thats the new one.The birthplace of Aristotle is the old... Ancient Stagira :))) I made the mistake.Entry was only 2Eur....Enjoy

archeological works are half way done (at least it looks like that), probably there is a lot of history in that place, but it hasn't been dug up yet.

An interesting site in a beautiful setting with some excellent signage. As indicated by another reviewer, this site is not easily accessible for people who have difficulty walking, but if you don't have problems the site is well worth a visit. An extensive section of the ancient walls has been well restored, so you have a good sense of what the fortifications were like. Very clear stoa foundation and house and store foundations. Excavated sections are scattered around the hilltop, but there are paths leading from one area to the next and views through the trees of the beautiful beaches and blue water surrounding the hill. The town of Olympiada below has a very comfortable hotel and great dining in the tavernas along the beach. This is one of the lesser known jewels of the Chalkidiki. This summer there was no fee, but an entry guardhouse was under construction, so by next year there may be a fee.

Very interesting but inaccesable for those who have difficulty with walking.

Парк открытий Аристотеля. В этом парке много интересного. Увлечены будут и дети, и взрослые. Красивое место, тут в очередной раз можно прикоснуться к истории древней Греции.

Καταπληκτικός αρχαιολογικός χώρος, με εξαιρετική θέα προς το πέλαγος. Βρίσκεται στην Ολυμπιάδα Χαλκιδικής. Κάτω ακριβως από το αρχαίο τείχος και την αρχαια στοά σχηματίζεται ένα πανέμορφο λιμανάκι, όπου ανάμεσα στα βότσαλα και την άμμο βρίσκονται χιλιάδες κεραμικά βοτσαλα-υπολείματα αρχαίων κεραμικών. Το φυσικό τοπίο είναι μοναδικό και ο αρχαιολογικός χώρος φτάνει μέχρι την Θάλασσα. Σε αυτόν το ιερό χώρο δυστυχώς αφθονούν τα σκουπίδια και όχι μόνον....Θα έπρεπε ο δήμος να είναι περισσότερο προσεκτικός. Δεν είναι δυνατόν από την μιά να ερίζουν για την ταυτότητα του χώρου και να καυχώνται για την γενέτηρα του Αριστοτέλη και από την άλλη να βρίσκεις στους ορμίσκους σκουπίδια και στα μονοπάτια περιττώματα ανθρώπων. Εάν οι επισκέπτες δεν αντιλαμβάνονται την ιερότητα του χώρου τότε δεν τους αξίζει η ελέυθερη πρόσβαση.

Удивительный парк различных открытий Аристотеля. Думаю детям тут будет вдвойне интересно, т.к. есть возможность все поторогать, покрутить. Но и взрослым отнюдь не скучно! Вход не помню уже, то ли бесплатный, то ли 1 евро - в общем ерунда.
