Museum that shows exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. The large rooms are light and perfect for showing art.

The building is beautiful, the outside is old and beautiful but the inside is modern, the clear lines and clean surfaces are soothing.Recently the left wing (depending on where you stand ;-) ) and the old atelier of Joseph Beuys have been restored, with both modern parts and also some rooms that have beautifull wall and ceiling decorations.The collection is good, they have a relatively large Ewald Mataré collection and some very nice works of Franz Gertsch, the swiss artist. At the moment they are showing a good Joseph Beuys collection and they regularly have new expositions, always with good documentation.Oh, and don´t forget to visit the cafe on the rooftop ;-)

The Museum Kurhaus Kleve dates back to the heyday period of Spa "Bad Cleve". Built in 1845-1872 in two departments and is located next to the 17th century amphitheatre. Past WW I the building was in disrepair, early 1990 renovation of the Spa, converted to museum (typographer and designer Walter Nikkels and architect Heinz Wrede), by this conversion the balance between old and new as well as the Spa facilities remained preserved. Since April 1997, the museum presents artwork from the middle ages to the present, but the emphasis lies on contemporary art from 1950 to the present period. Amongst this permanent collection also the artistic legacy of Ewald Mataré (1887-1965, sculptor classic modernism), as well as a new climax: the authentic Studios of Joseph Beuys in the so-called "Friedrich-Wilhelm-bad".

Das Museum Kurhaus Kleve nutzt die liebevoll restaurierten Hotel- und Badegebäude der ehemaligen Kurstatt "Bad Cleve" und zeigt dort überwiegend moderne Kunst. Es gibt spannende Wechselausstellungen. Vom "Cafe Moritz" auf der Dachterrasse hat man einen schönen Blick in den Park.
