One of the three estates of Ober- Mitte- and Unter- Heiligenhoven. Named in a document from1425, owned by Johann von Eyckelinckhoyven, named "von Wrede", commissioned officer rank and former mercenary of Cologne. After the testament of his heirs Hilligenhoven estate was in 1461 aquired by Ailff von Eycke-lynckhoyven, named “de Wrede” (Ober-Heiligenhoven), purchased in 1573 by Wilhelm von Steinrod and remained family property until 1663: Adam Adolf von Steinrod was the last family-owner, he donated the estate on 2 June 1663 to his cousin Johann Adolf Schenck von Niddegen. Adam Adolf von Steinrod died of the plague on 4 July 1666 in Lindlar (his gravestone is embedded in inner wall of the St. Severinus church in Lindlar.). After several owners exchanges the estate was in 1748 purchased by Johann Joseph Reichsritter von Brück bills who had the estate demolished some years later in order to have a new country house built. 19th Century bought by noble genus von Fürstenberg, in 1928 bought by the Kanton of Wipperfürth, in 1956 bought by the Adam Stegerwald Foundation for the use as leisure centre. In 1973 the estate burnt out completely and was and reconstructed, its current owner is Landschaftsverband Rheinland, the estate presently houses the Administration-Office of Open-air museum Lindlar.
