As a woman in a STEM field I would like to share my enthusiasm for science with my two daughters. There were almost no female role models available in this museum. No women inventors or discoverers were mentioned. The scientist cartoons depicted scientists as male without exception. Even the inspirational quotes all came from men. As a programmer, I work with very few women, but there were even less of them in this museum. That may also have had something to do with the second problem I noticed: The museum was only adequately equipped for children. Those exhibits which a child could not be expected to understand were indiscriminantly mixed with exhibits clearly aimed at young children. This led to a situation in which my children were participating in activities which by design were noisy, while a group of adults tried to listen to a tour guide explain how a transistor computer works. We got glares from the adults because they couldn't hear. We abandoned activities twice to avoid disturbing the tour. But separating children's exhibits from adults would only serve to emphasize how small the museum is, so I can see why they don't.

We spent a pleasant Sunday afternoon walking round the museum and enjoying it very much. There are plenty of areas of information and some hands on parts too. The museum is nicely laid out, easy to get around and was not very busy when we visited. As it is located with other Museums in Bonn along the same street, there is certainly something for everyone, in the immediate area. All the exhibits had English translation which was great for us. There was also a cloakroom to leave bags, coats etc and a nice cafe. Worth a visit !

The Deutsches museum is must see for science enthusiast and especially young fellows dreaming of becoming scientists. The museum has original records and equipment of Nobel winning research. Its very inspiring and motivating.

I walked from the middle of Bonn along the Rhine and then up to the museum (a long walk and not one I'd repeat) but the trams go to within 400 yards or so. It is at the corner of an apparently quite ordinary residential street and seems absolutely out of place there. Once you find it, however, it is well worth the effort. Although small it is very well laid out and there are many explanations of the exhibits in English for those of us (including me) whose German is not great. Lots of things for kids to do.

This place is NOT about Germanys history but about great inventions for example the lithotripter. Everyone who is interested to learn a little more about science should come here. It is also a great place for children to learn about science.

Great spot to learn something about the German history. It was really a pleasant surprised and the place was indeed interesting. You should check what special exebhition is ongoing before going there, it may be worth a visit.

as a previous reviewer noted, this is actually at: Ahrstraße 45, 53175 Bonn. there are multiple parts to that address A through D, and the museum is actually in building D. this is about a 10- to 15-minute walk from the deutsche museum u-bahn stop, which is about 15-20 minutes from the hauptbahnhof u-bahn stop.this is an excellent, serious science museum that really shows off germany's major role in scientific discoveries. virtually all the exhibits are translated into english, and you could easily spend 2 hours at a minimum reading through most everything. the interactive displays don't have english translations, but you can usually figure out what's going on. probably not the most kid-friendly (unless your kid is particularly into science) and the general population would probably find much of it to be a bit dry, but it's pretty interesting for geeky adults.

We had decided to give this museum maximum 3 hours of time but once we got there we ended up spending much more than that. The entrance for the museum is 5 Euro and there's a concession for students. Its a must visit museum for anyone interested in science. It showcases the development of technology, its application and there are good explanatory models that would help even a layman understand. The most of the exhibits have information in English as well as German. Sadly the interactive experiments/games have no information available in English. The museum covers various streams of science like Physics, Geology,Aviation, Information Technology, manufacturing industry and Medical science. But I have to mention that this museum is not very interactive like the Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai /Kolkata or Scientastic in Brussels. It is somewhat like history of science museum, contribution of German scientists to world of science. So this might not be very interesting to children besides few games etc.Correct address of the Museum - Ahrstraße 45, 53175 Bonn

Nice way to spend a bit of time. Gives good history.
