When I lived at Bonn (1998-2006), I purchased the annual card for the Botanic Garden. Every weekend I went by and took thousands of pictures with my camera. They have a tropical forest garden house. You find a huge variety of succulents there too. From spring to summer, the outside area provides space to plants from Europe, Asia and the Americas. Park benches invite to relax. Many students are there to take a rest from their exhausting studies. This Botanic Garden is very well maintained and there are plant exhibitions too. The staff is overwhelming friendly and they answer every question one has on the plants.
We were in Bonn to go to Beethoven's house when we passed the Cathedral. The cathedral was open so we went in to give our respects. Tourist are welcomed to view the surroundings. We decided to stroll around and see the inside. It is a well preserved cathedral dating back to the 11th century. They have a tranquil garden with fountain and its arcades and cloisters were magnificent. Worth seeing
This attractive and peaceful garden is just off the busy Poppeldorfer Allee. Plants are named and set out in an orderly fashion and the gardeners are cheerful and busy. It is easy to find your way to a lovely lake with seats for picnicking or just to watch the world go by, very relaxing and surprisingly quiet for the setting between two busy roads. The Tropical glass house was interestingI came several times when staying with family nearby - the nearby shops and restaurants are also well worth a visit and popular. There is a variable small fee situation depending on day of the week and when exhibitions are held.
A lovely small garden near the Poppelsdorfer Schloss. Well documented areas of plants. When we were there there was a sculpture exhibition. A good tropical glass house.
This is a lovely place which is shamefully unknown. There is a huge collection of plants outside and in glasshouses, including the giant stinker which regularly flowers. Part of the university, it also houses regular art exhibitions and last time i went, a collection of glass objects in animal shape scattered around so crocodiles near the pond, lizards near the desrt plant section and so on. Great place to come and relax, read a book under the trees for eg. .
I have entered the Garden by chance, while strolling around the city. Being there received friendly and qualified help in finding some exotic species. Even though, I misspelled its name ;) I like the people and the place. In the evenigs some small music events were organised nearby. Eventually, I spend some time around. Be happy to get back some time.Robert aus Danzig
A big and beautiful Botanic garden with various trees and plants. It is very recommended to take a tour what would explain you about different plants there or just sit there on Sunday (entrance is for free on that day) and enjoy the beautiful trees around you.
New to Bonn, we decided to explore the Botanical Gardens and were amazed at what we found. The Botanical Garden was a beautiful, serene oasis hidden in the bustle of a busy city. Bordered by the impressive Schloss, the garden was full of hidden pathways through the greenery, unique glass artwork scattered throughout, and a very interesting greenhouse. We came in the summer, so I can't speak for what the experience would be like at other times of the year. Still, it was beautiful and a great way to spend a relaxing hour or two. Bring a book and enjoy the quiet environment on a tucked away bench!
A lovely park to walk around. Flowers were breath taking. A nice place to include on a sunny day. There is grass areas to have a picnic and plenty of photo ops for the flower lovers.
I made that mistake that I went wrong time and did´t get inside greenhouse and it was raining outside. And it was February so not that many plants growing outside.
The Botanical Garden is one of the places you don't want to miss when visiting Bonn. It's vast array of plants from throughout the whole world is very beautiful and informative as well. In the summer and spring time this place has a great matter of colour to it from the most exotic flowers. The garden is very large and I took a tour here which is very well organised and the information given was enjoyable to listen to as well as thoroughly researched. There are many green houses that display tropical plants from all warmer regions of the globe. The outside provides for a large quantity of diversity and there are many trees planted here as well. I would recommend to take a longer time to visit the garden in order to enjoy the visit as well as you can.
After a week of cold weather, I felt right at home here. The green house of this botanical garden. Warm, lots of humidity and greenery just like home. Recommended for all south East Asian people living it bonn.
I didn't find it amazing, but it was interesting enough that I would go again, maybe take my Kindle with me.
many foreign flowers for free specially in juli , you have to be there before 4 pm otherwise you cant fully enjoy the victoria greenhouse
