Worth an afternoon or evening to enjoy the views, IF you're in the area. The restaurants in that area are expensive, so you may want to limit yourself to just coffee or tea and dessert. You can walk up to each structure, which is cool.
A visit to the lighthouse is a must. Best views in the town. A bit of a climb to the top.Not suitable if your scared of heights
Its just a landmark, but its a figurehead to this quaint city. Lots of watering holes over the harbour area to enjoy. Nice stroll and lots of pic opportunities
The lion and lighthouse make for photo opportunity. Lots of stairs up to the top of the lighthouse which provides a scenic view of the Bodensee and town.
Lindau has a beautiful little harbor and lovey lakeside promenade - take the time to walk around the lake and the town with all its little shops and restaurants.
Landau is a historic Bavarian town located on a small island on Lake Constance(Bodensee) which is connected with the mainland by a road traffic bridge & a railway dam & in close proximity to Bregenz capital of the Vorarlberg Austria & Switzerland.Limits have been set to prevent the exploitation of Lake Constance but boat trips depart Landau costing 10euros pp & lasting one hour which we found less than stimulating despite the translated commentary provided.Much more rewarding & free was the stroll around Landau to wonder at the beauty of it's historic Harbour Entrance with Lighthouse, Bavarian Lion Sculpture & Town Hall .
The Lighthouse and the Bavarian Lion Sculpture add a lot of character to the town's lakefront. One can climb up to the top of the Lighthouse from where the view must be breathtaking on a clear day. I did not do that, unfortunately and the day I spent in Lindau was cloudy and wet. A definite must see if you happen to be there in good weather
Lindau sits on the Bodensee (Lake Constance), close to the Austrian border. The iconic Bavarian lion sculpture and the lighthouse guard the entry to a boat harbour. On the day of our May 2013 visit, we had the added bonus of seeing a swan and her cygnets in a nest built close to the stairs leading up to the lion staue. Other highlights of Lindau included the Narrenbrunnen (Fool's Fountain) in the Unterer Schrannenplatz and the craft market, as well as the best apfelstrudel I've ever tasted at a cafe on. I wish I could remember its name, but it was next to Maximilianstraße 30.
The lighthouse and the lion sculpture is the main dominant of Lindau. It is quite nice to see it, but we drove there 100 km and it was not worth it. What I like the most was the view from the lighthouse. You pay 1,30 euro and than you have a nice view to the bodensee. Lindau is quite small town and this atraction is the city's highlight, but for me it was not enough. But if you are somewhere around you can visit it.
Wonderful lighthouse and Bavarian lion sculpture, very picturesque view. Looking like somewhere in the south of Europe=)
Interesting information about the lighthouse and the lake inside the lighthouse with stunning view over lake and city on top! Easy to to also with young children, acceptable cost
Took a boat from Bregenz to Lindau, was greeted by a lighthouse and a lion on opposite sides of the harbor entrance. Nice entry in to this quaint little area of Germany. We did not partake but you can climb to the top of the lighthouse
The inside of the lighthouse is a disgrace, full of graffiti and badly maintained. However, the view from above is fantastic. How come that the Lindauer's can't look after such a beautiful trademark?
Going up the lighthouse is exhausting (probably not recommended to everyone) but offers a nice view of the promenade and the city (although it would be a lot better if it was higher).
The cost to climb the lighthouse was very little. The narrow winding star case goes up and has landings every so often. Th last climb being a ladder. There is nothing much to see inside the lighthouse but the view from the top is worth the climb. The lion and harbour front. Worth doing if in Lindau.
