Amazing Zeppelin Museum located in Friedrichshafen We really enjoyed visiting the museum and it was great museum that combines technology with the history and artistic work. The only disadvantage is everyting displayed in German. The museum full of history about the whole history of balloon flight. There was a museum cafe including so many objects. The museum has an outdoor balcony with a view over the harbour.
While we were staying in Meersburg we hopped on a bu and went down to the museum. It is very nicely done and taught me a few things I didn't know. They have part of a Zeppelin in their museum that you can go up inside like you are a passenger. They have rooms and the viewing and dining area all set up like it was in the real thing. I bet this is where they filmed Hindenburg with George C Scott a few years back, but I could be wrong. If you are in the area, go there. You can also catch a lake boat right out in front of the museum and cruise to many points on the lake. That's how we got back to our hotel in Meersburg
Smaller than the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshaven, but I found the displays more interesting and details. Friendly, knowledgeable staff - just down from the castle!
Quite a quick visit not a lot to see, but informative none the less. Shows the German engineering prowess at the time.A nice walk along the front afterwards is possible.
If you were in Germany don't forget to visit Zeppelim Museum. It is a very good place to visit and stay. Spend a day you can be able to enjoy many information about Zeppelim and also have a very nice view of Constance Lake. I pretty recomend it.
This place and the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen complement each other - the latter is a more commercial museum which gives a good overview and a feel for the size of the airships, with a carefully presented selection of interesting details, whereas this museum is a collection of hundreds of small artifacts, pictures and memories packed into a small space by an enthusiast. There are photographs, uniforms, radio equipment, instruments, pieces of wreckage, personal letters and postcards, mementos and all manner of zeppelin-related things. The entrance fee includes a film about the history of airships and Zeppelin in particular. It is available in English or German language and is longer and goes into more detail than most museum films. The bulk of the written information in the museum is in German language, with only basic details in English. It would increase the appeal to international visitors to have more translation. The lady staffing the place during our visit was very friendly and clearly enthusiastic and knowledgeable, but our lack of German language meant we could only communicate with her on a very basic level (she spoke a little English). This means groups with at least one German-speaking member will get more insight into the history of the objects on display.Despite this, the collection is fascinating and impressive. You should definitely visit if you are interested in the history of the Zeppelins, or if you enjoy eclectic personal museums. The price is reasonable, and you can see a lot in a short visit (allow more time if you want to watch the film though). If you have only a passing interest, or impatient younger kids, the Friedrichshafen Zeppelin museum is probably a better bet.
This is slightly pricey but intriguing collection .housed in the schloss .Not a must see but a very interesting hour or two.
The owner has chased up actual components and relics (eg. chairs, crockery, uniforms, metalwork, a propeller, radio equipment) from the airship heyday and collected them in an atmospheric room in scenic Meersburg. There is an English-dubbed film about the Zeppelin age. Seeing all the actual bits and pieces puts one in mind of the Titanic relics, although apart from the Hindenberg there were no calamities.Worth spending an hour or so here ! Only 4 euro for adults ... and big kids !
Some very good exhibits especially the reconstructed cabins A little bit pricey but probably worth the visit. Pity there is not more detail about the use of the floating sheds they used for launching.
nice selection of history on the town and area. well worth a visit
Wonderful museum, gives an excellent insight into the rather brief age of the airships (roughly 1890 - 1940).Great exhibits, great explanations, lots of video material - highly recommended.
Vale a visita.
