We wandered through here because it was next to the Christmas Market. There's not much to it. The architecture is beautiful and the paintings are very interesting. You can find out the history of the building from the plaques. We didn't visit the cafe or bar and didn't even realize there was an information booth here. Of course, we just thought it looked interesting and wanted to check it out.If you happen to be around it, then wander on through...don't make this a special trip from whatever might be your primary objectives in Baden-Baden.
This building, built 1839 and 1842, is nice from the outside. The outside gallery is "cute" with its decoration and paintings, but there really is not much to visit after you have gone down the gallery (in a few minutes). Inside, there is the Tourist information and a café. There were no signs of the "famous" water we could sample.
The building is very attractive, but the fountain wasn't working so I couldn't try the water. The building houses the Tourist Information office and although friendly the staff were not particularly helpful and didn't seem too enthusiastic about recommending things to do in the town.
A way to evoke the 19th century traveller's experience of "taking the waters". The building is impressive, and for a very small price you can sample the supposedly health-giving waters. No money-back guarantee.
The building itself is an attraction! In addition you can find answers to most of your questions reg tourism not only in Baden - Baden, but anywhere in blackforest region.Thankfully it was not very crowded, so Barbara could attend to us with a lot of patience. She was quite knowledgeable and helped with a great deal of info and being lively at the same time.Suggest to head to this info center as soon as you arrive in Baden - Baden.
This must be the grandest Tourist Information Centre in Europe situated in the old Pump Room with its elegant columns. The lady there spoke perfect English and provided us with a map and information about concerts being held on the following days which were free.
I didn't spend much time there. Just has a look at the paintings and the leader told us something about its importance, but was not that important. Paintings and the kitschy things are nice.
the building is beautiful and historic but there's not much attraction in seeing the building if there's no water to drink. Apparently, due to a new EU health regulation, either the Pump Room has to declare itself as a medical service or stop serving the water, so they're no longer serving water.
they had supposedly antique show in that place. But really one of the sales men who had interesting old photographs and prints was so hostile towards non white tourists. the tourist informations people were not helpful either. Not good experience
interesting to wander around in the arcades and enjoying the kitsch frescos on the wall, fresh when it´s hot.
We were told by our hotel that guided city tours are available in English. The guide then told us she could do it in English, but opted to do it in German because there weren't enough English speakers. Thanks a lot. We then asked at the Trinkhalle tourist info, when an English tour would be held. Snootily delivered answer: Never, tours are always in German. You've been misinformed. Very annoying, changeable and vague information and altogether poorly organized. Get your story straight. And if you want international tourists in your town, try speaking a language they understand.
This is a gorgeous old building. The reason I only gave it a 3/5 is because there isn't much to do here. You can walk here from the city center and spend maybe 15 minutes looking at the building. The tourist information desk was very nice and helpful. There was a drinking fountain which wasn't working. So worth a quick look, especially when you first arrive, in order to get information about Baden-Baden.
The building is very photogenic and looks great when illuminated with coloured lights in the evening. We arrived at noon on a Sunday and although the building was open, the tourist info centre was closed and the place looked very dark and dingy with minimal lighting. The spa water fountain was closed due to hygiene reasons so there was little to see and do in the Trinkhalle and it was a rather unfulfilling visit. We didn't try the cafe which has lovely views over the gardens and some luxurious looking chesterfield settees to sink into whilst enjoying coffee and cakes
I know they have to repair and renovate but it was unfortunate that during our stay some of the paintings were hidden - however the bits we could see were really impressive and grand. The 'free water' was out of order too, until October - my poor timing but still a worthwhile trip
