相当宏伟的大教堂,外观很有风度。门上的浮雕很不错,里面的地窖、圆形的礼拜堂都很有意思。可以上到76米高的塔,塔上看到的博登湖真美,远处还能看到瑞士的小镇。
The Cathedral of Constance (Konstanz) is a must see attraction when visiting the town. I grew up not far from Constance but it has taken me over 50 years to actually enter the Cathedral for the first time. The cathedral is not huge, but has beautifully preserved/restored stained glass windows and frescos in the main part of the building and its chapels and an impressive wall-to-wall organ above the main entrance. Easily missed is the chapel to the right of the nave and access to the crypt and cloisters on the left. In the crypt there is the small Conrad chapel and grave of the Bishop Conrad of Constance adorned with very nice and well preserved frescos. The access to the cloisters with faded frescos (currently being restored) is from the crypt where the Silvester chapel and Mauritius Rotunda can be reached which should not be missed on any visit.Unfortunately the tower is closed during the winter months. I am sure there are nice views over the town and lake of Constance all the way to the Swiss Alps. For the ones without a guide book there are well organized information panels in English and German providing details about the main sights of the Cathedral.
I had a great feeling since while walking towards the cathedral. A gothic cathedral that caught our attention since from a block away. Once entering there I found that calm atmosphere I was longing for since about a couple of weeks. It gave me the impression as if I had traveled back in time. That labyrinth of chapels behind and under the main nave with the painted ceilings of the cloister will always remain stuck in me head. Great place to find some peace!
This cathedral is a wonderful example of medieval construction. For Americans visiting Europe, this is something that needs to be visited. The alter and stained glass are awesome.
An excellent opportunity for people interested in the history of sacral events in Konstanz, the council and its significance in the middle ages. The building ( Muenster) itself is a labyrinth of small chapels arranged around, behind and under the main nave and there is a cloister with painted ceilings (frescos). There are also frescos in some of the chapels and on ceilings throughout the Muenster which are very well preserved. I would recommend a visit to experience the scale of this magnificent work of craftsmanship even for those who are not religious.
This is a wonderful building that cannot be appreciated from external view only. Entry to this historic building is free,(donations welcome), with a 2 euro charge for climbing the tower; we did not have time to do so on this occasion. The stained glass windows and architecture are wonderful, and on the day we visited parts of the building were open, usually only accessible on guided tours. Improvements have bee made for visitors as historic information in some areas is now presented in English as well as German, this is important as for many tourists English is a second language., and certainly made our friends from England visit more enjoyable. If you are a visitor to Konstanz and have the time the Muenster is definitely worth a visit., whether you are interested in churches or not.
This was the best part of our visit in Konstance. The church is average in its design and architecture, but the bell tower was worth the climb. It was only two euros and provided an amazing view. Def spend a half hour climbing the tower and taking in the view, great value for the cost.
We took photos of this building whilst walking around the old part of Konstanz. Did not have time to go inside to appreciate the stained glass windows or climb the stairs to take in the views. However we appreciated the architecture.
Not to be missed when visiting Konstanz, the highlight of any visit should be the climb inside the spire. Yes, it does cost 2 euro, but it's well worth it. You can climb to the 40m platform and enjoy great views of the city to go to the much narrower 52m lookout and see even more. The interior is layers of history, Gothic on top and Romanic if you take the time to visit the crypt below.
Beautiful medieval church in the heart of the old town, the starting point for the Schwabisch route for pilgrimmages to Santiago de Campostella (in the basement, at the Rotunda of St Moritz), many lovely frescos, medals, and other artwork, loaded with history.
Beautiful place in the World Map,must see it to belive in that....for two euros you can get on top and feel the panorama of the city..and also You can enter the underground passageways and see inside
Located near the heart of the pedestrian zone. The church offers great stained glass windows, stone sculptures, a crypt behind the main altar and more private rooms of paintings, carvings and in general great works of art and organ pipes above the entrance door. I would first suggest after entering the church, go to the right and pay to the cashier for the tower tour (€2 adults, €1 children). Take the winding stairs up and up and up until you reach the viewing platform with nice views overlooking downtown, the lake and beyond the Swiss border. Another note when on this main viewing level is that you will notice a grey door once you exit the top of the stairs. Open this door and you will entre into an empty room. Take the small set of tight, winding stairs to the left. Once at the top of these stairs you have a more intimate and private view of Konstanz from all angles. After enjoying the view from above, head back down the stairs, catch your breath and now you can view the main church, and sub-levels. Walk along both sides of the aisles just to take in all of the intricate work of art. On each side of the altar are more sculptures and paintings with private rooms and on the left of the altar is where you access the crypt and other rooms to explore more of the church history and architecture. Overall, this is a nice and peaceful attraction with stunning views and great, historic architecture. Allow 1-2 hours to view this entire attraction. Highly recommended.
A great cathedral to visit - excellent inside and the tower can be climbed for a couple of Euros giving great views. Avoid peak times though as there are only one set of stairs and people have to cross - a minor annoyance.
The cathedral gives you great views and unlike other cathedral it's very large on the top.You can walk and see all around and even walk a little stairs to have views from an even higher point.I would recommend doing it. Even if you are afraid of heights the climbing upstairs is not a problem since the stairs is entirely whiting the tower without any openings like many towers have.
The muenster in Konstanz is a rather tall building that is quite beautiful. We walked around it when we were in Konstanz and took some great photos of it. Chances are you will see the Muenster when you are in the town walking around, you can go inside but we were happy viewing it while walking past.
