The chapel is built into a row of houses (Oberstrasse 39) as the Catholic Monastic Joseph Chapel and built in 1758 by court-architect Rabaliatti, only the Flèche and the façade axle with round-arched portalniche do mark this as a chapel. It was donated by Elector Carl Theodor to the Latin school (Catholic Gymnasium) as Rector's chapel. Inaugurated in 1760. The three-axle building is, due to the equal Ridge height of the adjoining houses (which formerly belonged to the Latin school), by pilasters and saddle roof with light dome of little emphasis. Of course, a Catholic Church in an Evangelical town as Bacharach has to blend into the background. 1889-1959 the chapel served as monastery chapel to the “Arme Dienstmägde Jesu Christi” (Ancillae Domini Jesu Christi), also known as “Dernbacher Schwestern” . Tabernacle from the 2nd half of the 18th century and a 17th century wooden Madonna sculpture.
