Nothing spectacular. If you happen to be in this village, you can go and have a look at it, if you can find itm but it is not worth going specially.

Majestic!!! Built 3rd century, 9 km west of Trier. Inscription mentions the brothers Secundinius Aventinus and Secundinius Securus, who raised the 23 m high sandstone tomb monument during their life for themselves and their family members. Although it is a gravestone, no human remains were found. Reliefs on four sides conducted in provincial style, originally colorful painted, predominantly depicting scenes from the antique mythology: Achilles (East), Perseus and Andromeda (west), deeds and apotheosis of Hercules (North). Also scenes from daily life of the Principals, who were wealthy textile traders in nearby Augusta Treverorum (Trier). At the pillar zenith the Eagle of Jupiter which brings Ganymedes to Olympus. Preserved thanks to an error: main relief front was interpreted as “the marriage of Constantius Chlorus and Flavia Julia Helena” (parents of Emperor Constantine the great), that is why the monument got religious protection. In late Roman time it was also used as a milestone: exactly 4 leugae steps to Trier (8.8 km). 1986 The monument was included at the UNESCO World Heritage list. At the Landesmuseum Trier an accurate replica with original colors is on display.

Hervorragendes essen und zuvorkommender service. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend. Die Küche geht auf lebensmittelallergien ein, da alles frisch zubereitet wird.

Leider ein Reinfall! Dieses bedeutende römische Pfeilergrabmal ist derzeit eingerüstet und wird restauriert. Die Schadstoffe scheinen dem Sandstein sehr zugesetzt zu haben. Wer dennoch die Säule in voller Pracht sehen möchte, sollte das „Rheinische Landesmuseum“ in Trier besuchen, hier steht eine Replik mit bunter Bemalung. Auf der Säule sind Szenen aus dem Leben eines römischen Tuchhändlers aus dem 3. Jhdt dargestellt. Nach der Restaurierung vielleicht eine Sehenswürdigkeit.

Lors de notre passage, il était en cours de rénovation et complètement caché derrère des échafaudages...Je mets la note "horible" car si je peux comprendre qu'il soit restauré de temps à autre pour qu'il ne tombe pas en morceaux, j'apprécie beaucoup moins que ce soit fait au même moment que la restauration de sa copie dans le Landesmuseum de Trèves... Celà leur aurait couté quoi de faire l'un puis l'autre ? Donc au final, on n'a pu voir aucun des deux.
