Only its exterior to be visited, perhaps renovationworks were going on. But even when only its exterior can be seen it is worth while, as the building dates back to1401. Perhaps somewhere a key can be leant to visit its interior, but as we only had before noon to visit the city there was no time to organize such but it must look great (tough empty). It is located at a square so it is easy to park ones car... it is a Late Gothic vaulted building which was converted in1566 into a granery and cellar vault that did belong to the Cistercian Monastery located on the Disibodenberg. Specialty is that it is the only Chapel in the region with a medieval tympanum, in it a crucifixion scene. It is the second oldest church in Bad Sobernheim of which construction of the choir began in 1400 and took about 50 years, then the nave was built. The chapel was a gift from monastery Disibodenberg to the city, which offered 180 hectares to be farmed by socagers of the monastery. It was surrounded by the Mönchhof (monk farm) and thus became a branch of monastery Disibodenberg. Agriculture was practiced so that the residents of the monastery had a source of income. After the Reformation under agricultural entrepreneur Morian it only served as warehouse, especially for tobacco, that's why there's a crawl space in the chapel.
