Interesting walk through the underground tunnels and being around something so old. Fascinating look at the impact the Romans had on the city of Trier.
All I can say is I was thoroughly impressed. Think I would have had one hell of a fun time at this place back then! They should restore this place to its original working facilities. That could be very educational; hanging out at the baths all day.
We happen to be in Trier on a very rainy day but it didn't dampen our impression of the city and the Imperial Roman Baths. The ruins are quite significant and tell one a story of the distant past. You would definitely see the foundations and the remnants of the old grandeur. Would recommend spending couple of hours there.
The adults in your group will love the architecture and history offered by this nearly 2000 year old site. The kids will love all the space to run around, places to climb and hide, and the ability to be loud (not like the churches and museums). This is a must see attraction for any trip to Trier!
Great reading how the Roman baths were built, never finished and adapted over time only to be discovered after the bombings of WWII.
We did not find the site that exciting. Maybe because we have been many times in Rome & there's a similar site every 100 meters there. Basically a row of tunnels. A plus that you can take a small leaflet at the entrance with the explanations how Romans used these baths (not just for bathing but also for some beauty procedures like removing hair from teh body :=))But the fee is small so you might go if you have some free time.
As elsewhere in Trier, the entry fee here is symbolic, so don't think twice. There are impressive passageways underground. This is only one of the world's cultural heritages to see in this city which is so rich in history.
This is an awesome experience. Especially the walk trough the dark corridors brings that extra to the visit. The enterance fee is small and worth while. The interesting part are the nice insriptions on the wall and the nice view over the city on the top floor. Don't miss the tourist attraction.
The history of the baths is amazing. The fact that is has been there for so very long is almost baffling. Being from American, I'm not used to seeing things this ancient. While I enjoyed walking the grounds imagining what it would have been like in Roman times and taking pictures, my husband and children were going through the tunnels, hiding, and trying to scare me. So, it was fun for all.
