This place abounds in stores and terraces. After a long walk of checking out other attractions - it's just the place to be :) specially when you're hungry and thirsty due to the summer's heat. It exudes such an inviting aura - you just get that hint that - it's fun to be in there.
Great fountain in a little square. Get there in good light if you want photo's. There's a lot going on so spend some time just gazing. Plenty of places to eat nearby.
place to see if you arein Koblenz with the history of Koblenz.you seat here few minutes before to continue you trip
This is a busy little square with a most interesting statue in the centre. The statue needs some time to study it as it tells the story of Koblenz.
This is a really nice square in the old town with an interesting statue/fountain in the centre. There are restaurants, coffee bars and ice cream parlours in the vicinity, pretty gardens and lovely trees. A good place to relax during your sightseeing or shopping with musical interludes from the street musicians if you're lucky.
This is one of the most intricately carved statues/monuments I have ever seen. You can spend lots of time looking at all of the fine detail and stories that are told within. It is located in the altstadt, in a very nice square where you can enjoy some coffee, food, eis, or a beer. There is lots of room to sit on benches or on the steps near the fountain to enjoy your time.
Apart from a good underground car park underneath the square, there is a lovely statue in the Gorresplatz, aparently of a lot of Burgers. Beautifully sculpted.
We were there and again another band was set up plaing music and vendors selling food and beer. So lucky to be there on a friday evening with lot's of activities going on. Wish we weren't so tired from our travels so we could have had the energy to stay later. We pooped out at 10:30pm.
Very pleasant square with a beautiful fountainRoom to sit in the sqare. Very near to the old town with easy access to Rhine and Mosel
Archaeological finds proove that the area surrounding the current Görresplein was already inhabited by the Romans. In the middle ages, it was the property of the Kastor foundation, later it became property of the of the Jesuit order. 19th Century gradually built, later municipal property. Formerly called "Großer Platz" or "Paradeplatz", late 18th century during French occupation also "Place verte". Late 19th century named after General August von Goeben, a monument was errected for him at the "Goebenplatz", for 10 years he was commanding general of the Koblenzer VIIIth army corps. After WW II the square was "demilitarized" (Goeben-monument removed) and the square was named after Koblenzer publicist and historian Josef Görres. In the middle of the square the 10 meter high fountain “history column”, artist Jürgen Weber tells in 10 juxtaposed “floors” in 3D scenes the history of Koblenz.
