This was my second visit to Milan and to the Duomo Roof Terrace. When I first visited, a few years ago, I walked up the stairs - quite do-able but they get narrow in places - so this time I paid 12 euros and took the elevator. I visited early afternoon and, although there was a queue for the elevator, I only had to wait a few minutes. The Roof Terrace is a work of art in itself with its pinnacles, statues and gargoyles. You walk along quite a few levels to reach the Main Roof but the view is incredible.
when you will buy a stair ticket in a till on a right side of a maintrance of Catherdral you don't have to wait in a long quene :)
We visited this place to get a panoramic view of Milano and have a closer look of the gilt Madonnina. Unfortunately there were some restauration works so you cannot go too close to the famous little statue of the Madonna. We took the elevator to reach the roofs. Ticket per adult is presently € 12.- for the elevator trip.
We bought the ticket using the lift it is cheaper if you use the stairs. €12 per adult. You can walk around the main roof and terrace viewing the hundreds of statues gargoyles and buttresses and view Milan city. We were lucky enough to have lovely weather making the experience even better. There are still steps to climb if you want to get to the main roof. I would highly recommend this attraction.
It's really amazing to see the duomo from this vantage point. The detail and intricacy is absolutely incredible, in every nook and cranny, on every level of the exterior. The stairs aren't as bad as a bell tower...
a must see when in Millan, the sculptural value and beauty of the Terrazze del Duomo is spectacularly gorgeous and breathtaking. Please make sure you see it when in Milan.
Visited just before sunset and was magical. Brilliant views of city. Don't try to save few euro by taking stairs. Take the lift, stairs are exhausting. (!)
Roof is usually something not having a lot of details in a building. But this does not apply to Duomo. The roof is a small town by itself. We went up using lift and we are amazed with the beautiful sculpture on the roof.Easily you can spend one hour there. The view of Milan overall also can be seen from here.
Definitely worth the climb, excellent views of the City. We caught it on a clear day and even views of the Alps in the distance, very good!
The price seemed a bit high, but totally worth to visit once. You can observe the statues, and other elements of the Duomo from closer. But the most important, is the great view on the city, and mountain around. Must see!
It was a ton of stairs, crowded and quite the trip to get there, but the trip was so worth it! The views were beautiful and it was so neat to be up there. It was fairly inconvenient to figure out how to do this - you had to buy tickets down the street and then stand in a fairly long line, but the end result was worth it.
It was my second time in Milano. Second time in Duomo. But the first time on the roof! Winter. Cold. Windy. Sunny and shinny! Stunning! Must climb and see if the weather is fineThe roof was allowed to visit only after 12. It turned to be very slippery during cold winds and rainy nights. Verrrry cold if windy - have a cap or hat!
It feels like a small city, a magical town built in a white marble. Hundred something pinnacles and hundreds of statues of different periods and schools adorning “the city tower”, lantern spire topped with La Madonnina, the golden statue of the Virgin Mary, a patron of Milan and a symbol of the city. Incredibly beautiful in a soft, diffused light, take a stroll in the morning twilight or at dusk.
The ornaments on the facade and arches of the construction are almost unbelievable. The view from the top is great. If you buy tickets in tourist office you may skip the line.
If you're already there then be sure to take the stairs all the way to the top. The view is beautiful and you can sit there, take a break and just enjoy the moment!
