fozan milan!
A legend in its own time, the San Siro Stadium it's a exemple from a time were football stadiums were real "arenas"!
Attended a recent game here and was disgusted by the lack of facilities at this stadium. There was 1 toilet available for approx. 3000 male fans so you can imagine the state of the place and if you're looking for a toilet seat, forget it, two ridges on the floor to show where to place your feet is as good as it got. It's an outdated, crumbling lump of concrete and not what I expected from other reviews.Stewards were unhelpful (and mostly Eastern Europeans ??) and I wouldn't waste money watching another game here.
A must visit for any football fan. Even just walking around this iconic building makes the hair on your neck bristle. It's a great tour which takes in the three dressing rooms ,one for AC,one for Inter and another for visiting teams. The museum shows all the history of these two world renowned teams.
The atmosphere is amazing even though the match was with an outsider. Tifosi did the job and were singing at all times. I was allowed to upgrade my seat since there were a lot of free places. Everyone smokes inside including stewards. It was very cold so I spent the break in a tiny coffee place next to the heating radiator. Paninis and beer are excellent :) forza Milan!
The Meazza, often referred to in the UK as "San Siro" after the district of Milan in which it is situated, is one of the most famous football stadia in the world. Here are some guidelines for the match day experience.Getting there: from the city centre, take line 1 to Lotto. There are buses on match day but. if you're feeling energetic, it's a 15-20 minute walk.Tickets; there are numerous outlets in the city (e.g. Mariposa in the shopping centre under Duomo metro station) or you can buy one at the stadium ticket booths. Be aware that you have to provide ID to purchase a ticket and show the ID and ticket to the stewards at the chokepoint before going to the turnstiles.Stadium: a vast concrete bowl with three levels. The top level (terzo anello) is rarely used and is not worth the money as it is too far from the pitch to see properly, even with binoculars. Aim for the main stand (red) or the opposite stand (orange). If you have the money, it's worth paying the extra for a "poltroncina " seat which is more comfortable and offers a better view of the play. I was sold a front row seat in the orange stand, seemingly pitchside but the view is obstructed by a fence, the disabled spectators and another fence.Catering: consists of guys going round with trays, waving their very limited range of merchandise and bellowing throughout the match- another reason to avoid a front row seat. Toilets: primitive. No hot water, soap, hand towels /dryers. No toilet paper in the cubicles where the toilet consists of a porcelain slab and a hole. The ladies' was the same (the door was wide open). Ladies are strongly advised to take a packet of tissues and wear jeans, old ones. The Giuseppe Meazza is one of the world's most famous venues but it is badly in need of a substantial makeover to come up to twenty first century standards. If Inter buy it after A.C. Milan move out to their own stadium, then this will probably happen. On last week's evidence, it can't happen soon enough. .
We were in Milan for a concert and pre- booked tickets for Milan v Cesena. Cost was 39 euros each. This is cheap compared to Premier League ! To walk up the road and see the San Siro appear is incredible. It is truly awesome. Whilst the attendance was lower than we thought, just the experience of seeing a match there was worth it. Beware though there are very few facilities inside the stadium compared to English grounds.
I have been to many important European Stadium that belongs to important clubs. And so far I have to admit that San Siro is the worst one eventhough I adore AC Milan so much,Somehow I feel this Stadium loose its marketing side. The whole visit itself is just less than 40 mins. However if you are AC Milan or Inter Milan fans, then obviously you cannot miss this place.
To get there we got the red line to Lotto and then the #49 bus. It is a bit outside the centre- the whole trip from duomo took 1 hour.€17 gets you into see the stadium and the museum. If you are a football fan I think its nice to see inside the changing rooms and get so close to the pitch but the museum is disappointing and over all I think its expensive.
Well to be honest for all you see of the stadium 30mins. There is really no grand entrance, you see the changing rooms, interview area, pitch, sit on a seat and thats basically it. You then can go into the shop which is really small and then the museum which was interesting. An hour includes everything. A really important point which not one person told us about despite asking 3 different staff members - if you are planning to see a footie match you need ID otherwise you will not be sold a ticket. The stewards check your football ticket which has your name on it against your ID for us it was our passport before you go through the turnstiles.
I lke Italy, I like Milan, I like team Inter! Duomo - so romantically. I will come back, because I like this place.
