The trip up the tram to Monte Baldo is worth the view, all the way up, and up on top. I was there in the fall and the weather was cold, but had a nice walk along the mountain. There are many tourists here, so do not expect solitude!
Stunning views from the top, Awesome rotating cable car ride up to the top which has restaurants and bars to sit and relax in for hikers in the summer and skiers in the winter.
Easy trip up via 2 gondolas. If the top is clear, the views are spectacular off both sides of mountain. A couple restaurant options, or take a picnic and watch all the paragliders take off. Wear sturdy shoes as you will be waliking trails, even though the terrain is fairly flat. On our way down, we stopped for lunch at a restaurant just adjacent to the 2 gondola stations. More beautiful views, and warmer than the top!
The trip up the Funivia (20Euro in August 2014) is worth it for the magnificent view from the summit.Go early, when it first opens, because by mid-morning there is a 2 hour lineup. Or go early afternoon, not nearly so bad, Do not go hungry! The food offerings at the summit are awful and then way overpriced. Also wear an extra sweater at a minimum, even in August there was a huge temperature drop at the top.Overall-worthwhile.
It took quite a while to get the cable car to the top as it was fairly crowded and once at the top the restaurant was average at very best. However, we went on a long walk away from the crowds who just stood there to enjoy the brilliant views and it was very quiet and well worth the effort. We eventually walked all the way down which was hard work and for most of it you are in the trees so I would recommend that people walk around the mountain tops and then get the cable car back down. This is by far the best part of Malcesine.
beautiful mountain walk's and scenery , when the sun haze appear's it hard to view the lake , the mountain range has many animals to be seen from rabbit to wild boar and many spieces of bird life plus flower's and fauna only seen around lake garda and the mountain side * Monti Baldi * it has a cable car system from the town of Malcesine to the * Summit * of said mountain with great view's going up and coming down its a camera paradise , .
Amazing view over the mountains and Lake Garda. Great ride up with wonderful view towards Malcesine. We were there in april but still lots of snow. Wonderful
went up on the rotating cable car on weekend in August, very long wait with queue, don't go on weekend if you can,go on Monday, once your up the views are spectacular, great walks as long as you like, two restaurants on mountain, both expensive, take a packet lunch if you can, recommend you take a fleece as can get cold
Some of the best views of the alps. Get up there, to almost 2 km height, and just relax. or take a paragliding trip down. Amazing, was there a few times now and will comeback again.
Get there early as trips arrive around 9:30 and the ques can be 2 - 3 hours when these decend.Go on a clear day and the views are breathtaking.
Leave plenty of time for walking at the top, as it's worth it. It wasn't too busy the day that we went, and so we got to enjoy it to the full, taking the last one back down at sunset. Loved it.
Wow!! I cannot fault this place and it's well worth the price of a ticket. We were all blown away by the views at the top. It's so funny being that high when the clouds r below you! If u r in Lake garda u have to go here.
The view from the top is simply stunning. We went to the top had a coffee and came back down. We would have loved to explore but as I had a chest infection at the time it wasn't going to happen . There were people of all nationalities and abilities going up and down. You can trek hike bike walk you name it. It was a beautiful setting our first wedding anniversary breakfast. Visit the hotel cafe to the right as you come out of the cable cars they are lovely and it is so deceiving how big it is!
We got here by two cable cars. Be prepared for a long wait at Malcesine before being crammed into the first smaller cable car. Half way up you transfer to a larger, also crowded one which slowly revolves as it ascends and descends. Our views were somewhat limited by the very low cloud on Mt. Baldo but nevertheless we could see across Lake Garda which is the largest Italian lake.. There were plenty of cows all having a clanging bell around its neck. Their pleasant varied notes resonated around the mountaintop. Food is expensive so it's a good idea to take something with you to eat.
Spectacular excursion for average hikers. It is also fitting for families who enjoy sitting outdoor at the huts out on the pastures.
