My girlfriend and I rented bikes from Chronobikes in Lucca where they recommended Buonamico. We phoned ahead to say we would like to have some lunch and do some wine tasting. The 'scenic route' took about two hours to get there. After having lunch we were given a tour by Rebecca who was lovely and spoke perfect English. The food and wine were great and it was exactly how we imagined a day in Tuscany
Wonderful modern surroundings watch over a great vineyard with truly exceptional Tuscan wines - all at a very good price with excellent delivery service worldwide. Highly recommended, especially the Montecarlo DOC Rosso Etichetta Blue, the Spumante Particolare Brut and Il Fortina IGT Toscana. Very fortunate to have been able to visit the vineyard twice in the past 5 weeks. Ordered some wine on our last visit and it arrived in perfect condition and exceptionally packaged within 10 days. Truly, an exceptional vineyard, with excellent wines and overall wonderful customer service. Grazie mille !!
We visited Tenuta Del Buonamico for a tour of the winery, tasting, and light lunch; all of which were perfection! Upon arrival, we were greeted by Rebecca who was as knowledgable about wine as she was sweet and welcoming. The tour of the winery was informative and enhanced our appreciation for what we were about to taste. Once again Rebecca conducted the tasting and made us feel comfortable. I hate it when the staff at wineries are pretentious as it can spoil the entire experience, but I can't say it enough that this wasn't the case at Buonamico. Our tasting began with Spumante Particolare Brut and Spumante Particolare Brut Rose. Then we moved on to whites and sampled the Montecarlo DOC Bianco, Vermentino Montecarlo DOC, and the Vasario IGT Toscana. We also tried the Rosato IGT Toscana and several reds including the Montecarlo DOC Rosso, Montecarlo DOC Rosso Etichetta Blu, Cercatoja IGT Toscana, and Il Fortino IGT Toscana. With each sample, I fell more in love with the wine produced at Buonamico and wished we lived nearby so we could purchase bottles throughout the year. During the tasting, we had the privilege of meeting the owner of the winery, Eugenio Fontana, who was warm, down to earth, and passionate about making outstanding wine and olive oil to enjoy with cuisine crafted from the incredibly fresh ingredients Tuscany has to offer. Immediately following the tasting we enjoyed a light lunch consisting of fresh meats, cheeses, olives, cherry tomatoes, and Tuscan bread with olive oil made on the premises. Served on the terrace overlooking the rolling hills of the Tuscan wine country, everything was presented with care and fulfilled our craving for a delectable meal. As we ate, we debated which bottles to purchase since we wanted to buy all of them, but could only take so much home on the plane. We ultimately purchased a bottle of the Montecarlo DOC Rosso Etichetta Blu, Il Fortino IGT Toscana, 50 (a special collectors red), and a bottle of Oro di Re extra virgin olive oil. Visiting Tenuta Del Buonamico was a highlight of our vacation in Lucca and an experience to be savored!*All major credit cards including American Express were accepted here.
Recently I visited the little town of Montecarlo near Lucca in Tuscany. The town was originally founded in 1333 by the future Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, hence the name! It is a sleepy little town with a very small population. Montecarlo is mainly known for its wine, and there is plenty of it! The town is surrounded by vineyards that produce excellent quality wines. I had the good fortune to stop in at Buonamica Tenuta and had a great wine & cheese tasting experience and tour of the facilities. The people were warm and friendly and very knowledgeable. Great day in Tuscany!
Absolutely beautiful countryside and a lovely place to visit. The tour was interesting and the food and wines provided and the setting added to a wonderful experience! We enjoyed socializing and took our time sampling wines. We were able to purchase a case and have it shipped to Ohio very reasonably!
The best thing about this winery is that a number of languages are spoken. The 30 Euro tour included tasting 8 wines and food. We were left to our leisure on the deck to enjoy ourselves and take our time socializing. Prior to leaving we purchased wine at very reasonable prices. A definite enthusiastic two thumbs up.
I can not thank Rebecca enough for the most fantastic afternoon. She is top notch with her tour. The wines and lunch are not to be missed. It was the most beautiful afternoon spent in the Lucca vicinity. A memory I will always cherish.
Gracious, beautiful and so informative. Our 4th winery tour in Italy. Staff was wonderful and views were amazing.
This is one of the "do not miss" stops on a Lucchese wine tour. Their Spumante Particolare and Montecarlo Rosso are both fantastic, and you will want to linger in their beautiful tasting room overlooking the vineyards. We booked a tour, and it included a lovely lunch here. Don't miss it.
We had a wonderful afternoon at the Buonamico Winery...a delicious lunch of local foods on their patio overlooking the vineyard, a very informative & tasty tour of the winery, and plenty of wine & olive oil shipped home to enjoy afterward!
This was the best wine tour we have been on, everything was explained well, from harvesting the grapes, through to bottling and storing the finished wine. The lovely young woman ( who's name I have forgotten, Sorry!) who took us on the tour could not of been nicer. We took the deluxe tour and the lunch that was provided was good wholesome local cuisine. Every one in our group was impressed, we had a designated driver but the rest of us tried all the wines and made more than a couple of purchases. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone.
Our host at Il Seminario in Lucca arranged for 3 friends to visit Buonamico on a beautiful June afternoon. The taxi delivered us to the front door and our experience unfurled. After a tour of the very modern winery we got serious about the wine and olive oil tasting. All wines were delicious and we were guided by our informed and warm host. She described characteristics of the wine and production encouraging us to taste oak and steel and earth. Just enough cheese and charcuterie provided us with energy to taste all the wines plus bubbly and grappa. The setting was beautiful. Wines were delicious. We had the BEST time.
I really wanted to love this place and we had been so excited to visit. If your reservation hasn't been confirmed, I don't recommend going. The staff were very inflexible and not very welcoming. There were hardly any people there but we were informed that they were extremely busy and so we couldn't take a tour. The wine we tasted was excellent, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to make up for the unpleasant experience. This rating is due to the warm welcomes we had when we dropped in on two other local (and much smaller) wineries.
A welcoming arrival from Arianna set the tone for a most enjoyable and personable wine tasting and tour delivered by Rebecca. 7 of us were joined by a another group of 6 Canadians and catered for extremely well. The tour was delivered with aplomb and questions answered eloquently. The wines were described well without the snobbish overtones. There was a wine for all tastes to be found leaving no one wanting and the young children that were part of our group never felt left out.Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon. Being used to highly commercialised wineries in NZ this was a top effort.
We discovered the Buonamico wines in a lovely restaurant in Lucca, looked the name up on the internet and drove up to the cute village of Montecarlo on a rainy winter's day. Arianna greeted us warmly and offered some of the wines as well as their lovely olive oil for tasting. The premises are beautifully designed, modern yet in keeping with tradition and very elegant. One can tell that there is the new generation in the business. We received information on each wine we tasted and left carrying a few crates of wine as well as sublime olive oil.... Arianna also explained the different types of guided visits on offer and we look forward to returning with friends for a full visit of the domain and some more wine tasting of new varieties in production. All in all a pleasant experience.
