Abstract to have a tree canopy so high. The views are amazing, the planters are a bit annoying as there is really no space to pass anyone. Quite surreal and worth the €4 entry.2wanderers
This tower is unique with the mini forests of oak at the top. Nice frescoes on the walls on the climb up. The view is very good in all four directions. 4 E is the price/person.
Pros: great views, very centrally located, easy climb (if you are not a person of impaired mobility) and unique in that it has vegetation growing on the top in the viewing area. Cons: lots of stairs, not accessible if you cannot climb stairs, narrow path around the top means that you may wait for a nice viewing spot if you go on an especially crowded day. We did not have any problems, but with about 15 visitors, the top can feel crowded. A great spot for viewing beautiful Lucca!
This is the best tower to clime in the city. When at the top the are trees growing to keep you in the shade if you want. The views are fantastic looking all over the city and the surrounding mountains.
We visited in December and it was a cold windy day so did not climb to top but will return on a nice day as it is not far from Florence! Great pictures with a telephoto lens from below. Can't wait to go to top!
Great view, of course! It takes a bit of exercise to go up all those stairs, but it is definitely worth it!Super Aussicht! Es braucht etwas Fitness um alle Stufen hinaufzusteigen, aber es ist definitiv die Muehe wert!
if it is a clear day, take the 243 step clmb to the top of the tower for great, if windy, views of Lucca. 4 euros admission. The staircase is in good shape and easy to climb--when the tower was originally built there were no interior stairs, only wooden exterior staircases which are long gone, so these stairs are fairly modern with banisters. Plenty of landings to pause for a rest and admire the view on the way up.
This tower is very unique, and well worth the over 200 steps to get to the top. It is a Lucca landmark and has amazing views along the way through several windows and especially when you get to those trees!
This is one of the most beautiful towers we have climbed. Not the highest but it has trees on the top of it. The view over Lucca is absolutely magnificent and worth the climb.
Worth the climb. Its only a small climb but you are greeted with great views of the city. The top of the tower does not have a tremendous amount of space, so as long as its not busy you should be fine.
For a small fee, you can climb the tower and get a lovely view of the city. We visited in December and it was not crowded, but I suspect during high tourist season it is much different. Once you make the climb, the top of the tower does not have a tremendous amount of space, but the view is worth it.
The Guinigi Tower should definitely be on your must-do list when visiting Lucca. A reasonable number of stairs and somewhat creepy metal stairs toward the end, but you are rewarded with an amazing observation platform at the top with trees and amazing views.
Me and my girlfriend were in Lucca and wanted to climb the magnificent tower...she suffers from vertigo though so I had to bait her into it with pastries. The whole way up I kept reminding her that the tower was safe by jumping up and down on the fragile rust laden metal staircases near the top. When she got up there she said that she was so glad she did it. The view was stunning. Def a must do-
Definitely one of the most interesting towers so far with its trees on top. 4 euro or 5 euro combined with Torre della Ore is good value. Shows just how big Lucca is within the walls, with much more spread past that!
The bird's eye view that awaits is a glimpse of the everyday life ( down below ) of everyday people. It's a bit of a climb but again the memories that you attach to something out of the ordinary is precisely that.
