The food is excellent--refined and gourmet. We booked the vineyard tour, wine tasting and lunch outside, that included linen tablecloths, amazing service and spectacular views of Montepulciano in the distance. I love that the vineyard is organic! I cannot wait to return to Avignonesi in southern Tuscany.

We had a wine tour and the wine tasting luncheon offered by this winery. It could not have been better! The food is the very best we have ever eaten. The Chef came to each table for conversation and he was not only talented but a delightful host. The tour was very educational and well delivered in English by a very knowledgeable young woman. The best for last, of course. The wine is to die for!! We ordered some shipped home and we have savored here with friends recalling our lovely time spent at Avignonesi.

As I researched what to do in Montepulciano, I came across the Avignonesi Vineyard website. I looked through some of their tours and booked the Tour & Winelover's Lunch which includes a tour of the winery, wine tasting (7 wines) and lunch (4-course), all for €95. The booking process was a breeze with Paola, who greeted me at the Cellar entrance when I arrived. I'm a foodie and I've visited some fabulous vineyards in Portugal, Spain, California and Canada. In my opinion, Avignonesi is one of the top wineries on my list. I plan to visit Tuscany in more detail in the future and I will include another visit to this fantastic place. If you like dessert wines, you will not be disappointed with their Vin Santo! Highly recommend a visit.

If you are planning a wine tasting trip in Montepulciano, you must go to Avignonesi. Having lived in the Bay Area for a couple years, I've been on a ton of winery tours and thought I'd learned everything. However, Avignonesi has so many unique aspects, in winemaking, farming, etc. We learned a lot of interesting information and had a beautiful tasting of their delicious wines. In particular, be sure to taste the dessert wines (after you see the grape drying racks on the tour). Hope to return one day!!

This is one of the best experiences when traveling in Tuscany. We booked the lunch paired with the wine tasting, and it was wonderful. First we toured the cellars with our guide Valentina, she is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The lunch was fabulous, as were the wines we tasted. The staff is very professional. We walked the grounds after lunch, and it is just the dreamy Tuscan countryside we see in pictures. We ended up having wine shipped to the US and it arrived all intact, a few days later. Definetely recommend.

This winery is outside of Montepulciano and we at first ended up at the vineyards where they pick the grapes as we were a bit lost. The workers there seemed used to this and gladly told us where we needed to go, but we took a few pictures first. We didn't have reservations and the only thing available when we arrived was a tasting, so we did not get a chance to view the grounds. I have had Avignonesi wine in the US, so was excited to see the winery, which was as beautiful as everyone has described. We did a tasting of 4 wines for 10 Euros each, but since we bought 2 bottles (of wine not available in the US market), the cost of the tasting was taken off the price of the bottles. Valentina spent a lot of time answering our questions, she was absolutely lovely!

Visiting Avignonesi: You are in Tuscany. We drove up the cypress lined road leading to the estate. The tour is very personal. The cellars are really beautiful. We started with winemaker Ashleigh Seymour. She spent plenty of time explaining the great care and dedication taken at this winery. Next was the tour of the beautiful vineyard and wine cellars. We were lucky to get access to the appassitoio" (drying room) where the vin santo grapes are laid out. We were excited to partake in the winelover's lunch in the panoramic Foresteria. We sat in the beautiful sun filled dining room overlooking the vineyards. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The wine and food were fantastic. The food was 5 star farm to table tuscan gourmet. The wine pairings were equally wonderful.

I visited Avignonesi with my husband during our honeymoon in Italy. I had booked to spend the whole day there and was slightly apprehensive as it was quite expensive. Having now completed the day I would say it was worth every penny. Immensely good value. We started with pastries for breakfast and a delicious coffee. This was followed by a cooking lesson with the chef David who was lovely. I thought I would be a hopeless case but he was encouraging and had a good sense of humour. We had a delicious glass of wine during our lesson and were given a goody bag with some gifts in, apron, corkscrew and recipe booklet.Following the lesson was a tour of the vineyard and wine cellars. We were lucky visiting when we did as we could see the grapes drying to make the vin santo wine - delicious. After this was the wine paired lunch. This was incredible, sooooo delicious and the setting on the terrace was beautiful. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the wine fantastic.I have no problem in rating this experience as 5/5 and hope to return there in the future.

When you walk through the doors of this spectacular winery, your greeted by beautiful smiling woman. You are immediately offered a delicious glass of Avignonesi Spumante than off to the vineyard for a bit of education about making wine on a historic piece of land.We were fortunate to be there in early October so we had access to the "drying room" for the famous Vin Santo grapes!!After the tour we sat in a beautiful sun filled dining room overlooking acres & acres of vineyard's. Than the food & wine started to flow, one course was better than the next. The food was 5 star farm to table tuscan gourmet. The wine pairings were equally as wonderful and the staff were simply enchanting. If you plan to be in the area, don't miss escaping reality for a few hours of shear bliss

We reserved in advance an afternoon tour and wine tasting and it was fabulous, fascinating, informative and fun. Our guide was Valentina, who was friendly, charming and attentive. The five wines tasted were delicious, especially the Grifi, Grandi Annate Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and 50&50.The vineyard itself, and its variously purposed structures were gorgeously maintained; the views were completely stunning. When reserving, we originally considered the wine-lover's lunch, but opted against it primarily because it was somewhat expensive for lunch with wine, and also because we both so much enjoy gorging ourselves at Italian dinner time. However, after such a wonderful experience on the tour alone made us believe that the cost would have absolutely been worth it.
