Like other castles of "prince bishops" that I've visited, such as Salzburg and Wurtzburg, this castle was set in a dramatic location, built on a very grand scale, but decorated tastefully. This one was particularly well preserved and had lots of original features such as winding wood-paneled staircases and ornate windows.Kids will love this as a "fairy tale" castle.
I was impressed with the collection of Egyptian artifacts! Also the tower with fresco paintings is wonderfull.
Beautiful old castle right in the old part of the city. Nicely landscaped grounds and interesting antiquities inside the castle.
I spent a 2 hours visiting the Castello di Buonconsiglio, and it was a really nice few hours! Since I arrived only a few hours before closing time, unfortunately I didn't have enough time to do the whole tour, but the part I DID see was really amazing! If you are ever in Trento, I strongly reccomend a visit to visit the castle!
It is here that the cardinals of the catholic church have stayed for years to decide about the policy against Luther and protestantism. It is an amazing castle, boasting exceptional frescoes. You must visit it when in Trento. A visit takes at least a couple of hours, you actually get lost inside...
A fabulous castle filled with wonderful paintings and art. There are some interesting and outstanding pictures, including an amaxing painting of the Council of Trent. The Egyptian collection is small but excellent. Don't miss it! One needs a good two hours or so to enjoy everything. For older people, some of the entrances may be a bit steep.
Splendid castle with stunning ceilings and architecture which has be a part of any visit to the lovely city of Trento. Euro 16 for a family ticket for interesting displays, exhibitions and great views of Trento. Well worth a visit.
A great place to visit; hey, if my bored to death of bl..y castles, cathedrals and monuments teenage daughter likes it, then it must be good, haha.
My wife and I visited this castle after searching through TA . This place was beautiful . It cost an extra euro to tour the tower with the frescos in it , but worth it . The tower was English friendly and with lots to see and read . Very good day here !
It was a rather rainy day, so we took our time to tour the castle and take in the history. Huge place but well worth it.
Well-maintained castle residence. Plenty of information boards and a very good audio guide. Full of history from medieval to modern times. Anything less than 4 hours and you are only scratching the surface. Staff are friendly and very helpful. If they don't speak English themselves, they will find somebody who does. Plenty of parking within reasonable walking distance.Definitely worth visiting.
The Castello del Buon Consiglio is situated on the top part of Trento and from its position it shows that it was buolt to guard the city. It dates back to the Middle Ages and when one visits it he finds himself going back to the time of the Feudal System when the lords of the land where the barons and the nobles. This castle enriches the history of the city of Trento and when one is there it deserves a visit. The castle is enriched with big halls with affreschi and cielings with engraved scenes. Its loggias are adorned with gothic and Roman Arches with beautiful peristiliums in their midst. One must also remember that the city of Trento in the fifteenth century hosted one of the most important Councils of the Roman Catholic Church, The Council of Trent, which was held to confront the threats of the Reformation. It is a sure thing that the Castello del Buon Consiglio played a very important part during this Councils hosting most of the Cardinald and Bishops that took part. In fact in the castle there is an affresco depicting the this event. We visited the Castle which though it is not the Louvre, or thePalazzo Pitti or Windsor Castle or the Schonbrunn it is beautiful and full of medeaval culture which we are sure will further enrich all those who visit it.
The castle was recommended by several local friends in Trento and it doesn't disappoint me. It has a great collections from all periods and the castle itself was stunningly beautiful. With just an additional euro, we also visited the tower that holds the Torre dell'Aquila. The audio guide was full of detailed explanation for each fresco! My daughter and I walked the garden full with roses and beautifully tended garden. It was a worth to visit!
This castle is well worth a visit. The museum has many parts ranging from ancient Egypt to gothic art. We spent 3 hours in the castle, including the tour of Torre Acquila with its famous fresco cycle of the months of the year. These are stunning works from the 1390s. A castle full of history.
This castello is well worth a visit especially the Torre dell'Aquila. Do pay the extra euro for the audio guide which gives a very clear explanation of the frescoes. There is a wonderful view from the terrace and ever changing displays of art in the display rooms. There are also several examples of the tiled stoves once common in homes in the area. Do not miss this when in Trento.
