How fun to walk around and soak in the unspoiled and beautiful little town. Lovely shops sell everything you need and then some. Ship home enormous wooden carved sculptures, or carry a small one with you as a souvenir. In fact, if you are coming to the Val Gardena, just bring an empty suitcase and buy hiking boots and scarves, hats, sunglasses and clothing here! It could work!
Beautiful pedestrian zone across Ortisei with a lot of shops. During my trip on this street unusual ice sculptures as a variety of handbags have been established.
fairytale area, lined with shops and restaurants. Great for a wonderful afternoon visit. Varied shops including standard ski gear up to diverse fashion selections.
Pretty town. The pedestrianised area has some lovely shops, the emphasis being on woodcarving, footwear, deli's and embroidered fabrics.
We stayed a week in Apartment January 2015. it was the most well equipped apartment that we have ever experienced. It was spotless with high quality linen supplied. The hosts were very friendly and gave good instructions about finding the place. Booking was straight forward. The apartment had a garage space, moderm, confortable and was right in the centre of Ortisei: ski buses, Panificio,Shops and restaurants.
The pedestrian zone of Ortisei is a small paradise, especially at night when the beautiful buildings are enlightened.
Heart of Ortisei. Good place tk walk. It is good to see a beautiful small church inside. Many shops and exhibitions. Beautifully painted houses.
Lovely Christmas market and nice shops.......special if is snowing all is caming magic very interesting.a
Truly wonderful setting in a very picturesque setting in the centre of Ortisei. The promenade in the main street of the village is very enjoyable.
We have been to Ortisei in January 2014 and stay for 7 days. The village ir self is place at very interesting place like on two a face front mountins and in the middle is pedestrian zone . Organization is with a lifts that are descending from the highest level to the zone of pedestrian. The streets and windows of the shops are perfectly fine. Very nice place for winter holidays .
Nice walking area, lots of souvenir shops, nice coffee shops to enjoy sun and relax. You can find everything you need - a pharmacy, supermarket, ski/shoes/fashion shops, souvenir shops...
Artistic, both inside (wooden sculptures etc for sale or on show) and outside (wonderfully-decorated facades of buildings). Impressive.
A great pedestrian zone with a lot of small shops. From there you can also see the gorgeous Sella Group
We had some walks and we even used one or two terraces there. Nice, peaceful, not crowded and safe from cars.As i saw, the town is excellent adapted for skiers and winter time, but very nice on summer, too.
The centre of Ortisei with its pedestrian area is full of charm and prettiness. We have visited it twice once in winter when it was cold and darkness set in early, when the twinkling fairy lights and prettiness of the snow made it magical, the second was in summer and we noted how pristine it is, it is so perfect and everything so well maintained that it could be a movie set. Especially looking at the pink building near the top of the pedestrian area! It's a small town, but there is much to enjoy: shops with carvings, many without, near the top there is an exhibition of the local carvers masterpieces (some really incredible), lovely coffee shops and cafés, an interesting looking winebar and wine shop and the pièce de resistance is the church on the hil., the Parocchia del'Epifania. The beautifully carved pews are something to behold and the interior is lovely.Buses to Ortisei are good, you get dropped off centrally and they appear to be quite regular. Ortisei's pedestrian zone is definitely worth a visit.
