Fafignana is aprox half hour by ship from Trapani. You can choose speed ship,but ist expensive maybe try traject. There are some places for sunbathing,you can rent a bike or scooter..)) Nice place to visit.

we took the hydrofoil from Trapani port across in about half an hour to Favignana. I think it would have been better to catch a tourist all-day island hopper boat instead as these take you around all the islands, provide lunch and let you off to snorkel etc..without as much hassle. Assumed we could get a fisherman's boat on the island to take the tour around as much of this coast is rocky but the fisher boats are pretty dodgy looking and it was very windy when we went. Plus he wanted 70 euros! A travel guide at the port suggested spending the day on beach. We hired some bikes (very easy) and rode down to the nearest beach to the south of the island. it took 15 minutes - pleasant enough. The beach is good. Bit rough. Beach cafe - even internet! I'm not sure I'd bother going back. I know people rave about the waters etc.. but best take the boat from Trapani or go somewhere else - Sicily has plenty of other fab beaches. The central restaurant area is nice - we have a lovely granita in the cafe there.... The hydrofoils are packed coming back!

We went to Favignana island. After we got out the boat we find this little train with a very friendly driver. He took us around the island and explain to us about the history of the island.

The three Egadi Islands, Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo, in the north-western tip of Sicily, are the stuff of old mariner’s chronicles. Time has stood still here and the impressions of the islands couldn’t have changed all that much since the days when seafaring in the Mediterranean was more intrepid. Today the islands can easily be reached from the mainland harbour of Trapani, by sea-craft which could ply the stretch of sea in minutes flat or by boats which take the trip a bit more leisurely on day excursions. On a lovely summer’s day with a breeze and a gentle swell, the sea-crossing couldn’t be more inviting. Steady as she goes to Favignana.Favignana is the biggest of the islands with a sizeable community and settlements. It flourishes on the fishing of tuna and swordfish as one could see from most of the trading outlets on the island. The quaint eating places, with sunny tables on the outside, are very tempting, especially when the historical centre of Favignana is mostly a pedestrian area where only passers-by can mill around you.As is to be expected even the spaghetti is served with tuna egg-slivers, sprinkled with virgin oil and garnished with fresh tomatoes, parsley, garlic and basil. Naturally one can find a variety of dishes on typically Mediterranean themes accompanied by local wine and other local delights for afters. The locals would indulge in the same fare.The main square with the typical island church is surrounded by old shops; green grocers, fruiterers, village grocers and bakeries, and a lot of bicycles. It is lovely to bike around the streets and it is the basic means of getting from place to place.Swimming in the sea around Favignana is out of this world. The crystal blue waters are still unspoilt as is the rugged landscape. Taking a dip off the shore, in the bay, or off a boat in Cala Rossa is just an experience not to be forgotten.Levanzo is quite a tiny island with just a quay for a harbour but is none the less attractive. There is a comfortable bar where one could sit for refreshment or perhaps an ice-cream. For the more curious, Levanzo boasts of interesting cave paintings in la grotta di Cala del Genovese which is not easily accessible at all but rewarding for all those who manage to get there. The painted figures would be about 12,000 years old and archeologically significant. The limpid blue waters around Levanzo simply call you for a dip if only the skipper on your boat would allow it.Marettimo is the furthest of the islands and would take a further hour to reach by boat. Day excursions do not often include this island which also has the reputation of being somewhat exclusive. Any accommodation would be in a cluster of small tenements or hotel farmhouses of which I did not have direct experience.The rugged climbs uphill provide breath taking views over the sea. The wilderness also hides numerous caves and secluded pebble beaches.An experienced sailor of these waters would be glad to relate tales of the sea while heading his boat into the wind.

Costs EUR 8 per person to go round the island, commentary only in Italian, pleasant way to spend 90 mins, although not really much to see !

Il trenino su ruota permette una rapida escursione dell'isola ben guidati no soltanto sulle attrazioni ma anche sulla storia dell'isola da Alex. Utile da fare sin da subito per farsi un'idea delle cose da vedere e da fare come priorità durante il soggiorno sull'isola

Arrivati a Favignana abbiamo preso il trenino dove Alex ci ha portati a conoscere tutte le particolarità del posto, facendoci sentire l'amore per la sua terra.. è sceso più volte per raccogliere le erbe aromatiche da far sentire ai passeggeri del trenino e ci ha raccontato aneddoti sull'isoletta.. lo consiglio a chi non vuole solo una guida che dica "a destra abbiamo.." " a sinistra abbiamo.." ma una guida che ama realmente il suo lavoro

Abbiamo fatto il giro veloce dell'isola con il mitico trenino (durata circa 45 minuti).Interessante la spiegazione di ogni scorcio da parte del conducente che intrattiene i passeggeri con aneddoti e peculiarità dell'isola. A mio avviso ne vale assolutamente la pena per farsi un' idea di come trascorrere la propria vacanza. Bello ed interessante

....appena arrivati a Favignana. Abbiamo fatto il giro lungo che con soli 8 Euro ti mostra e spiega albero dopo albero l'isoletta di Favignana. Personale gentile e cortese con tanto di sosta per fare foto.

Appena sbarcate a Favignana non perdetevi il giro su questo trenino. Vi aiuta a capire le distanze tra il paese e le varie attrazioni. Mentre viaggiate seduti e comodi e vi gustate il paesaggio Alex vi racconta un po' di storia di Favignana, spiega dove state andando e cosa vedete oltre a tante altre informazioni utili di cultura gastronomia ecc. Aggiungete che è pure molto simpatico e capite perchè non si può perdere. 10 euro ben spesi!

Con mia moglie, avevamo deciso di fare il giro lungo utilizzando questa società'. Avevamo un volantino che riportava 2 numeri telefonici (immagino dei soci) per ottenere informazioni e fare le prenotazioni. Ho composto il primo numero (tal Beppe) e non ho avuto risposta; ho fatto poi il secondo numero (tal Alex) che mi ha risposto, mi ha detto che il giro lungo si faceva alle 16,30 con partenza dal porto. Ho detto il mio nome, che saremo stati in 2 e lui mi ha raccomandato di essere li per le 16,20. Tranquilli per aver organizzato il nostro viaggio siamo andati al ristorante ed abbiamo aspettato le 16 per recarci al porto in tempo. Al porto non esisteva la nostra prenotazione (il signor Alex si era dimenticato di farla e l'altro socio ha continuato a dirci che io non avevo parlato con lui ed era colpa nostra), il trenino (fatto di 2 carrozze) era pieno e a loro gliene poteva importare di meno che noi avevamo perso altre opportunità' di gite in attesa di quella da noi prenotata.Mi rendo conto che probabilmente questa segnalazione non servirà' in quanto la domanda e' superiore all'offerta ma volevo solo segnalare la mancanza di serietà' di queste persone che non si sono neanche degnate di chiedere scusa.

All'arrivo a Favignana in aliscafo,si trova la biglietteria che è anche punto informativo dove si può reperire anche la cartina dell'isola. Questo simpaticissimo trenino permette di conoscere l'isola, grazie anche al simpatico conducente / guida che ci spiegava molte cose dell'isola e della realtà del posto. Se non volete affittare bici, moto o auto lo consigliamo.

Appena arrivati a favignana sistemati i bagagli in hotel siamo tornati alPorto a prendere il trenino facendo il giro corto il tutto molto interessante con l'autista che fa' anche da guida spiegando svariati posti per 5€ a personaConsigliato

Che divertimento! L’esperienza più simpatica e piacevole di tutta l’isola… a bordo di questo splendido trenino elettrico, con una guida simpatica e spiritosa al comando, abbiamo viaggiato per tutta l’isola alla scoperta dei particolari più curiosi, degli aneddoti più strani, degli scorci più suggestivi… Non c’era angolo di spiaggia, pezzo di roccia, arbusto o ramoscello che la nostra guida non descrivesse con dovizia di particolari… tutti salutavano al nostro passaggio e noi ricambiavamo con l’entusiasmo del turista che, un po’ deluso dalla giornata trascorsa a Favignana, finalmente scopre quella dimensione che supponeva esistere ma non aveva scovato.Potrete scegliere se fare il tragitto più lungo o quello più breve, ed effettuano anche le corse notturne… che peccato non averla potuta fare! Lo consiglio vivamente a tutti, non fatevi smontare dal prezzo (che potrebbe sembrare elevato…) … ne vale assolutamente la pena! Anzi, se possibile, riservatevi il tour come prima esperienza sull’isola, dopo potrete selezionare con maggior criterio in quale caletta o spiaggia recarvi per un bel bagno! Da non perdere.
