Nice view and very quiet there. You can park your car there and walkaround and look. If you like you can visit the canon museum also, but you have to pay a entrance fee.

Very rare to find something this original and open to view completely and for just £7pp. So much original equipment and machinery inside the fort giving an insight from the time.. Fantastic views out across the sea and worth the trip for the views. A slight walk up from the unsurfaced carpark. Site not really suitable for those with mobility issues.Only 5 minutes easy car journey from Kristiansand.

My dad was the one who wanted to go to Møvik fort and I tagged along. I was very surprised by the gun, the museum and the preservation of the Nazi fort. This huge gun protected almost half the distance from Norway to Denmark. One caution -- there is lots of walking with not too many places for my dad (78) to stop and rest. The paths to the rest of the fort could use a few more signs as we wandered off the path a few times but overall Very Good.Great views from the fort.

You will need at least 3hr to get around the sight. This one of the most complete WW II bunker I have been in.

Møvik fort, also known as the Kanonmuseum, was bulit during WWII. The big canon was planned to work in common with a similar one in Hirtshals, Denmark. Together they should master all the seas between the two countries. It were never fired in war, just once as an excersise. You reach it by the bus M1 to Møvik or Flekkerøy.

Wow! Why is this place not more popular?! The name hardly does it justice. You get to see a huge world war two "gun", with ordnance 40cm in diameter (see my pics), and some of the infrastructure required to support it – storing and loading "bullets" that big requires a whole system (and you can watch a film from WW2 of them doing it). You can wander round by yourself (a sheet of English information is provided that's pretty good) or join a tour (we did the former, but saw some of the latter- it looked good). You get to learn about how the Nazis controlled the water with various gun placements so well that the allies never attempted to get through. The gun that's still there is the worlds second biggest. About 100m away is the concrete casement intended to hold the worlds biggest; however, the ships transporting the barrel were sunk by the British before it could be finished. Despite that, exploring the casement is fun, and you can go to the top and get a fantastic view (the whole site is in a lovely spot). Note: there's toilets and you can buy an ice cream, but beyond that there's nothing really in the way of facilities.

Actually a bit boring. Need a restaurant or something similar. Nice place with a wonderfull view and with potensial.

Dette er en topp utfluktsmål for familien. Enormt militærannlegg fra andre verdenskrig. Her kan man gå på opplevelse i mange timer. En liten del av annlegget er museum. Lav inngangspris.
