So you're driving through the Czech country side, end up in the small village of Bouzov and then you see this fabulous castle.I've seen a lot of castle on my trip through Czech Republic. In my opinion, this one is the best. Very beautiful, very well kept, interesting tour (in Czech, but can be followed in English on paper). Also the garden is very nice for a walk. And the entrance is very cheap, compared to other castles.I do not do this often, but this castle is worth a second visit. I'll be back.
Has an interesting history behind it. Was very nice to see the interior and hear about different events that occurred there. Also has an interesting(?) torture museum on the side with sound effects and all
The castle is approx 20 km north-west from Olomomouc towards to city hradec Kralove. You can get there very easy with public bus via town Litovel. Nice castle and spectacular countryside.
The castle is well-restored and rich in interiors, and in history. A choice of two tours and extra programmes, well worth time spent. Free parking possible in city square.
Beautiful Castle in nice surroundings.Guided tours ony in Csech but text available in English.Cheap entrance tickets
This castle is a "must see" in Olomouc region. The castle is really beautiful, there are 6 different tours... we took "the castle" (130 CZK) thinking we will see the whole castle, unfortunately it didn't included the tower (you need additional ticket to visit the tower). The rooms were full of old furniture and decorations. Beware you have to pay for parking (60 CZK).
This is a great, well preserved castle. Rent a car or get a taxi there as it is a nightmare with public transport.
A marvelous site in a park-like setting...just don't take the last tour of the day! We arrived in time for the 4:00pm tour and regret not getting here earlier. Our guide didn't allow any extra time to look around after she had finished her talk. As soon as she finished we were wisked into the next room. I think she was ready to go home! Make sure to ask for the English transcript when you purchase your ticket-- that is, unless you understand Czech! But all in all, definitely worth a visit.
Managed to find this place after wandering through the beautiful countryside for a while. Very secluded! Well- preserved medieval castle, tour in Czech with English handout. Worth the effort if you have a car; get picnic supplies and take advantage of the park. The farms and villages around this area are very beautiful. Staff spoke Czech, with one young woman having limited English; of course, we were the only tourists there so maybe it was too early in the season. No one spoke German or French or Italian so that pretty much limited the two of us to hand signals and good intentions. Still, had a great time. recommended.
This is deffinitely a visit worth. The castle is already impressive when you are comming by car and appears behind the hill. Looks really like from a fairytale. Looks like mediaval one but was almost completely rebuild only aproximately 100 years a go.Castle tour was interesting, also kids find their secret doors and stairs :) Its recommended to use all the circuits, including the castle tower and underground.
It's a very nice castle and they maintain it well. It doesn't have all the 'glitz & glamour' of some of the larger castles, but it is also close to 800 years old now. The rooms are huge and you can certainly get a good feel of what it was like to live there (as a royal). We took the guided tour and I don't speak any Czech (my gf is Czech), they gave me a written English guide which I was able to follow fairly easily. There isn't much else around the area which is why I would say only visit if you plan to be in the area anyway.
Beautiful fairytale castle where some of the czech movies where shot. Its a great place to go with family or friends. Definitely worth seeing.
It's a tragedy that most people don't know about this lovely little gem in Moravia. My parents were born in the Czech Republic and took me here when I was fourteen years old. For me, the highlights are:1) Few lines, no rushed tours and you can enjoy the castle at a leisurely pace. 2) The Czech Republic was always captured or handed over during more European wars, so the majority of the Czech lands are undisturbed from war; the surrounding countryside of Moravia is beautiful, and original, unlike most European cities/regions. 3) The castle was built in the 13th and 14th centuries, and is the original, unlike castles such as Neuschwanstein Castle, which was completed in 1892. A true gem. The castle is located 33.3 km (32 min) northwest of Olomouc. A must visit when in the Czech Republic!
I'm sorry, but there seem to be some misunderstanding about where the castle actually is. Trip advisor map shows it as located slap bang in the middle of Olomouc, though it is miles off. Is the Statue of Liberty located on the Fifth Avenue? How about Hoover dam, you mean it isn't really on the Las Vegas Strip?! Though they most probably have a scale model of it somewhere...I was sort of hoping I'd get to visit Bouzov on my way through Olomouc towards - you guessed it - Prague, but now I realize it just won't be easily done or even possible in the planned time frame. There's always next time :(
I was born in this town we left when I was very young so I do not remember anything really. This castle is around 800 year old castle dating back to the early 1300's.The architecture has changed many times over the centuries from early Gothic to Renaisssance style. We had a guide with us since we were on tour which was invaluable for knowledge of the long history. Be prepared to spend many hours here.I am catching up on some of my reviews from our 3 months trip around Europe so this review is many months old...sorry! .
