Inspiring spot in the heart of the city. If you reach rotunda, you will see all the beauty of Znojmo from it, such a nice mixture of old architecture and magnificent nature. Do try to go inside, it is only 90 kc and just for 15 min, but it is very impressive. The frescues are quite unique and so old.

Try to visit before noon (less visitors). Only to be visited via a guided tour (15 min, max 10 visitors per hour, sign on via the museum desk, audioguide in several languages available, taking pix of its interior is forbidden).The famous "rotunda" stands on the highest point of the castle courtyard and is the oldest preserved Romanesque roundabout. By far the most valuable Interior, even beyond national borders, is hidden in the Rotunda sv. Kateřiny: murals dating back to 1134, depicting a Gallery of the Přemyslid dynasty. The rotunda is one of the many typical roundabouts from the Přemysl period 10th century, characterized by the architectural style of contemporary influences. 1134 Konrád II, Prince of Znojmo, Gave instruction to decorate the Church with, for the then Europe, very unusual murals inspired by art of the Byzantine Empire: the biblical scenes are supplemented with a unique Gallery of the Princes of Přemyslid dynasty 10th-11th century, from the first Přemysl king, the Ploughman and the plough, a series of Prague rulers, but also other rulers of Bohemia and Moravia as well as those having the same Přemyslid rights to the throne, the Act of the Přemysl State (kind of a of painted Constitution), in the Middle Vratislaus II of Bohemia (first Czech King and older brother of Konrád).

Ротонда считается одним из старейших памятников Чехии. Она – уцелевшая часть замка. Во-внутрь мы не ходили, но снаружи она нам показалась достаточно обычной башней.

pěkná vyhlídka na údolí Dyje, vše je pěkně opraveno. Rotunda leží blízko Znojemského hradu, který je také pěkná památka.

Nádherný výhled na město, krásné okolí a hradby města. Jen v okolí nás zklamal nefungující pivovar a polorozbořené stavby... Zážitek podobný návštěvě Řípu nebo Vyšehradu

Besichtigung zu gewissen Zeiten möglich, Besuchszeit wegen Mikroklima begrenzt. Um die Fresken zu erhalten, wird der Raum im Dunklen gehalten und ausschließlich durch ein spezielles Licht während der Besichtigung beleuchtet. Diese Fresken sind wirklich sehenswert! Ein romanisches Kulturdenkmal der besonderen Güte, auch wenn nicht mehr sehr viel erhalten ist.

В Зноймо сохранилось множество образцов средневековой архитектуры. Самым старшим и редкостным из них является романская Ротонда св. Катерины (Rotunda sv. Kateřiny). Она представляет собой сохранившуюся часть замка, принадлежавшего Пржемысловичам. Интерьер ротонды украшен фресковыми росписями 1134 года с изображениями библейских сцен и представителей рода Пржемысловичей. В других уцелевших частях замка разместились экспозиции Южно-Моравского музея и местный пивовар.Сейчас ротонда, можно сказать, - визитная карточка истории города и оборудована она по последнему слову музейной техники.Ротонда стоит на другой стороне Знойемского замка, как единственный свидетель древнейших времен города Зноймо, и возможно, самый древние здание стоящее на территории Чехии. Ротонда включена в список национального культурного памятников с 1962 года. Занимает третье место по значимости памятников в Чехии, сразу после Пражского Града и Карлштейна.
