Pretty church you can order tour in the tourist office in Old Town Hall. Very interesting place. Under the church is "kostnica" - which is also a very interesting place but kinda expensive.
Walk inside and enjoy the unique pillars and atmosphere inside this quiet oasis in the centre of the busy city.
In the centre of the town there´s a wonderful late gothic church whose history dates back to the 13th century. Except for wonderful architecture and lots of interesting artifacts there´s also a sculpture of famous Radouit de Souche, the general who protected the town against the Swedish troups.
Easy to find & well worth seeing.Once where people wee buried it has been excavated and the skulls & bone are 'nicely' arranged.
Peace and quiet. Not the biggest one but impressive. Gothic architecture, near to the centre of Brno.
Beautiful and spacy gothic interiors, not spoiled by too many baroque additions. Worth seeing. If you wish to participate in the mass - services are held in hours convenient for travelers.
Impressive, breathtaking, beautiful. A great architect specimen with gorgeous statues and paintings. I am a christian orthodox and I was severely impressed by the catholic churches! Such a serene place!
We have visited this church before as tourists. This time we got to watch some of our Czech friends get married. The setting was wonderful. The voices echoed a bit, so a little hard for our translator. But the echo gave the music a nice depth. And it was fun knowing just up and to our right there was this little bare bottom guy mooning the big cathedral on the hill.
We only paid a short visit to this church to get an amusing photo of a small guy baring his butt at the cathedral. On the way we passed a building whose façade featured four atlas figures (The House of the Four Mamlases) which is also worth a look.
I don't think I have never seen a church with so much sunlight inside. On the outside you can search the man showing his rear end, and then descend to the second largest ossuary in Europe.
... because it's beautiful and symetric and grand, it makes you feel so small and amazed and also this church is two steps from the St. Jacob's ossuary, which its a must see in Brno!
If you like visiting churches this one is worth visiting. The building is in great style and build in great craftsmanship. The church served once the German speaking population of BrnoI didn't visit the human bones which are kept down in the church, but again if you like this it is worth a visit.
as with all the churches and cathedrals, see the work of the then skilled golden hands of the masters of centuries ago, it's a feast for the eyes.
Beautiful slender vaulting...the outside, especially from the rear, is also very fine. Pilgram is supposed to have had a hand in it's construction.
While the church is of historical interest, we particularly enjoyed our visit to the catacombs. We found the inclusion of contemporary art among the remains and the specially commissioned requiem a fitting and moving means to honor the dead whose bones reside here.
